Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. - Jay EmdenThese guys are VoIP via Layer 3. I reported them to their carrier and have requested that their account be frozen pending investigation on their side for fraud. Remember guys, the IRS /NEVER/ contacts via anything but mail. Not email, not phone calls, not passenger pigeons with threats in their beaks. They may send lawyers, but judging from the phone queues even that's a long shot these days.
- Caller: "the IRS" haha
- Nicholas JaggerSome Indian [***] called me claiming he was from the IRS and that I owed back taxes for 2010 which is a load of [***]. He then recited an address from 9 years ago I had used and told me that all the documentation had been sent to that address and that I never replied. Then he read me some bogus piece of trash with my lawsuit information and told me that I needed to go to the IRS Office and update my address. I laughed at him and hung up the phone. Hopefully the government can use the NSA tracking to locate these [***] and euthanize them.

- LMCaveThey called and said that they were the Dept. of treasury and there was a case against me. That I owed money to the IRS and what I was sending monthly wasn't enough. I have never owed the IRS money. Please be careful you don't get sucked in and give them a credit card number.
- Caller: Dept. of US Treasury
- Another oneI received a call from this number (202) 621-0663 as well claiming the IRS was filing a law suit against me for "bad" taxes for years 2003 and 2007. Was told I had to hire a CRIMINAL attorney, I would be picked up and put in jail for six months. Read some BS affidavit and I asked how much and an amount was given. I told this person I would NOT be giving any money and that I had NEVER failed to file my taxes and needed the discrepancy information to turn over to my lawyer; I was told the "subpoena" would be delivered to my house within three hours. The clock is ticking and no one is knocking. IF someone shows up, I will be locked and loaded and take the info then send it to the US Treasury Department. I was asked if I did my own taxes or had a CPA. I replied a CPA, then was told my CPA was not "allowed" to contact them with this situation. I was given a name of Steve Barker or Parker, hard to understand that accent, and a badge number of CR1988, when I started questioning him and told him it was a scam he promptly told me I was speaking to a "Senior" inspector with the Treasury Dept and the IRS would not have knowledge of this as it is with the USTD. Duh... they are one in the same. Big clue. I even blocked my number and called him back and he answered he phone "Dept of Legal Affairs, US Treasury Dept". I hung up. Anyway, the ONLY info I gave was I confirmed my name .... Hope this helps others..!!
- Margaret SnithIndian accent threatened legal issues. Block on caller ID, but left the phone number. Reporting to FCC and local authorities.
- Caller: "US Dept. of Treasury" haha
- laughing loudI also came home to a message that said I needed to return their call, to the Dept of legal affairs IRS and should have an atty on hand. I REALLY want to call too... but will refrain. Sadly as an Officer in a large City I have taken countless reports from people who fell for this. All walks of life! Once they have you they keep coming until that tap is so in debt things are hopeless. Sometimes it's not just international, becareful because there have been times where these dirtbags show up or meet you to collect. That however could be their biggest mistake! Bad guys..bold and stupid!
