They called from an unlisted # saying that they had a $7000 grant for me and asked me to call back with an approval code (by comparing stories they are 2 letters and 3 numbers, ex. AA###). They asked me for account info and ask them to send a check. They asked me to call this number. I called back to verify but since I was unwilling to give any more personal information, the man I spoke with was agitated and asked me to verify who they were and then call back but didn't give me more information than he was from the US Grants Dept.

Looking at other responses on the internet along with my own experience, they have asked for money to be sent to India, they all have indian accents, and the first call is from an unlisted number.

The took the money I sent and said that they would send me a grant but I never received it I should have known better but I needed the money to pay off some bills and now im in a hole because I sent them this money

An Asian man called me from the number 384 4, saying about I was chosen for a $7000 dollars grant from the US government due to my good credit, not owing IRS and so on. When he asked for my bank account or credit card info to transfer the money, I told him I'd rather a check then he said they don't do checks. So he gave me a grant identification number with 2 letters and 3 numbers (AZ123) to call Mr. Mark Jones at  202-621-0667 and tell him i'd rather a check but i would have to pay $150 just to recive my grant through Western Union or check. Only the transefers to your personal accounts are free. But i haven't done so becaue i relaize its a scam. There is no way a government number wouldn't be listed as authentic on the world wide web.

some  are landlines...many  are  cell phones...some  are  spoofed  and  linked  to  offshore foreign  countries !!!!


we've  traced  back  most  of  these  numbers  to  offshore  foreign    call centers  in  INDIA /  THAILAND  ETC....



here's a  few  other  numbers  posted  from  the   same  area  code  offering a  wide  variety  of  scams  /  free  money / scam  giveaways / humane  society  etc  etc.....stories  change  out  all the  time......and  the  usual  nonsense!!!

**   mysteriously  call to  claim  they  have  several  thousand  of  dollars  to  send  you....just  provide  you  bank  account and  credit  card   right  away   etc etc.........scam scam
