I received 6 calls in one day from this man with a heavy accent claiming to work for the Criminal Investigation Unit of the IRS.  He was rude, inarticulate,  and repetative.  I have since blocked this number.  I know this was a scam call because I owe nothing to no one!

I also received a call from this number regarding my husband who handles nothing regarding finances. It was a woman who barely spoke English, (India I think) claiming that her name was Linda. Stating This message is for ***** This is officer Linda calling you from the criminal investigation department of IRS; the reason of this call is to inform you that there is a legal case and complaint against you on your name by the IRS. The moment you get this you message you need to call back on 202-621- (long pause) 0933 again 202-621-0933. As it is a matter of urgency we look forward to speaking to you thank you have a blessed week bye bye". The call came in late Saturday 5/16/15 at 4:39 p.m EST. I also found out that this is a Mobil number from VA in the Washington district. She sounded extremely unprofessional and friendly at the same time?? I returned the call  at 7:30 pm Saturday 5/16/15 there was no answer, no message with no ability to leave a VM when it connected; just that the caller is unavailable. I informed her of who I was and that I was calling back on the behalf of my husband letting her know that I have power of attorney; stating that I had no idea what she was talking about and that I really looked forward to speaking to her. PEOPLE BE WARE SCAM I AM REPORTING THIS TO THE STATE POLICE IN CT

The police can do nothing about these calls. Most are from India and Pakistan.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

This total moron called to tell me he would "[***] me up"if I don't pay him.   I gave his number to everyone I could to turn the tables on him.

Received call from someone named Ron Williams Badge #427 saying he was from the IRS Criminal Investigations Unit and there was a case pending upon me. I was directed to hang up and call the number 202-621-0933 back within 1 hour or the case would proceed against me. Fishy as the number I was to call was the number showing; the individual had a very heavy Asian accent. I was provided with a case ID # - guess what - I'll call the IRS tomorrow during normal working hours. If there's a case against me a few hours won't make a difference.  The information they provided was name, street address, zip code and age - anything they can get from Internet. SCAM!

I received severals calls from this number as well. Saturday May 18 2015. Claiming to be IRS investigating a IRS crime. I didn't return the call as I know better. I guess I can also contact the General Attorneys office in Missouri. This is stupid! Their accent gives it away.

This happened to me a few yrs ago and these clown shoes called me today from the same number you are reporting.  I contacted the FBI. They have the resources your state police do not. Hope this helps.
The other thing you can do is keep a whistle handy and blow their eardrums out.... or so i'm told.

I just received a call from the same number listed above by several people (202) 621-0933 - same person a male with an accent and stating the same - he called twice - I will just block the number.  I went to the offical IRS site and the number was not a valid number for the IRS.

This number is a total scam. Said they were an investigative service with IRS. When I told them to stop calling or I would contact the attorney general, they started cursing and even called several hours later with a barrage of obscene expletives when I answered by accident.

I called back this number 202-621-0933 and a guy answered the phone " good morning criminal investigating unit". So I ask what company and he said IRS.  I then told him he is a mother f.....scammer and he was so mad that he was swearing at me.  I told him to scam his mother not me and he then started yelling at me. That was a great feeling to tell the scum bag a scammer.

Thank you for these posts. I just got off the line with the same, described individual. He made the identical claims.- "IRS Criminal Investigations Dept., Ron Williams, badge #427. Wanted my elderly mother's age and began making threats and swearing when I got on the line and informed him I would call the police. He has an Indian accent, conducts himself in a  very unprofessional, ignorant  and aggressive manner. He was also very adamant about getting information from us. I will take the advice of the previous posts and call the FBI.

I was just informed by the FBI that this is about a 1 1/2 year old impersonation scam, targeting those with ethnic names (hoping for unsuspecting immigrants) and/or the elderly. I was also directed to inform the Treasury Inspector General
(800) 366-4484 as the are currently conducting investigations and need to be aware of what area they are currently targeting.

I got the same call , a man with a heavy accent said he is from i r s legal department.... total scam !!!! be careful...
said his name is Michael Jones and could not pronounce it.....

I didn't answer the phone from these clowns so they  left a voicemail , telling me IRS has a lawsuit against me and I need to call them right away before it goes to court.. After reading reviews I'm not worried... Their just a bunch of thugs.. I have since blocked their # ...don't worry

A couple weeks ago this number 202-621-0933 called and he had a very heavy accent and it was hard to make out what he was saying. But he said he was from the criminal investigation of the IRS. Well I call the number back today and he was telling me that I would have to send money today or I could resolve this in court and have a warrant out for my arrest. Well I went to a western Union to send the money and got home to call the police and call the western union place to cancel the transaction, which they did and I will be picking my money up tomorrow morning from them. I also went to the website http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report.shtml to report it to the IRS. I am waiting at this moment for a police officer to come to my house to file a report.

It basically is that I owe taxes of $2,263.00 which I know that I do my taxes every year and I have paid my taxes. I have never owed on my taxes.

Thy called me the same way and for some reason these people have my SSI number. I never gave it out. Where is the protection and privacy from this government?
