- JackThis phone number left a message informing me I owed back taxes and must contact a tax attorney immediately. I called them and they claimed to be the IRS. They person whom I spoke to had a heavy Indian accent and claimed his name was Jason. He said his IRS number was 963636. He would not provide any other details and claimed I was sent multiple notices and never responded; hence, I needed to contact a tax attorney.
- Caller: IRS

http://www.latimes.com/business/money/la-fi-m ... y#axzz2wk6O5un4 - XY replies to TamianthI also get this kind of phone calls from different numbers and different names every time.Even I got phone call on Feb 11 2014 ,four times and it was strange that the number was 1-800-829-1040.I know this is SCAm,but some how they create IRS number and you can see this phone number in your caller ID.
Other SCAm phone numbers are 202-864-1148 , 202-241-0262 , ALL THIS IS SPAM.They ask for money saying that they are calling officer so and so, from Criminal Investigation Department.
I wonder why Police or FBI or IRS can not catch them? Anyway,I believe that IRS-POLICE-FBI should work together to stop this scam. - Roger Jacob| 1 replyGot a call from 202-629-9364 saying I owe back taxes...which I don't! Can't something be done to stop this kind of scam?

- VickieReceived a call from 202 629 9364. Knew immediately it was fraud. The IRS WILL NOT CALL you. They will send you a letter. Do not fall for these crooks. I hope they are caught and put under the jail for life.
- Caller: No idea but not the IRS
- Call type: Debt collector
- VickieI tried to call the 202 629 9364 back. It rang for 30 times and seems to have a break in between the rings as if it is being transfered around. However the 202 area code is Washington DC. The IRS can get a court order to trace the number if they want to. I was with AT&T for 36 years and know the process.
- Caller: Claims to bve the IRS
- Call type: Debt collector
- SherryReceived a call from this number on a direct dial number at work. It is a scam. Stated name as Steve with a strong foreign accent and said the same thing about going before a magistrate and that it was the 2nd time we had been contacted. The person that he got definitely did not owe any back taxes.
- Caller: IRS
- Call type: Debt collector
- Marc| 2 repliesJust got a call from this guy (Steve Maron?? couldn't make it out) claiming to work for the Federal Magistrate or Federal Grand Jury regarding a federal criminial prosection. I have to call back or I will be arrested for ignoring this request.
Real a bunch of baloney. Obviously bogus.- Caller: Some Unidentified Federal Agency
- Irritated not paranoid| 1 replyPhone rang, caller ID said it was Washington, DC. I thought it might be a recording from a congressman (sometimes I get these) so I answered. I said hello......long pause....finally a man with a heavy accent said he was from IRS. We got disconnected and I called back. Same man answered said his name but I could not understand it. I told him this number was a fraud on the internet. To his surprise he said "What?". I will get (supervisor, boss, general?) couldn't understand him. Then I asked him for his name. He said "Why?". I said because I need it. Call was disconnected.
- Really frustrated| 2 repliesMy wife got a call from a foreign sounding guy this morning from this same number citing impending crinimal prosecution which are going to face and to call this number back to receive help. This is one of many similar call types we have received in the past few months. Why cannot they be stopped. Seems to be harassment to me
- JamesSame deal. Heavy foreign accent. Obvious scam. As others have asked, if we have a PAGE of folks talking about this scam, why hasn't the FBI arrested him yet?
- Caller: Impersonated IRS
- Call type: Debt collector
- JCalled asking for me at my uncle's house where I haven't lived in 15 years. My uncle passed along the message, I called them back. A woman with a Chinese accent claimed to be from the US Treasury Department and asked for the number at which they called me. I said, "you should know it, you called me there" and she hung up. Obvious scam.
- richardbig time scam! i have, however, enjoyed calling them and harassing them. they know i know what's up, and have resorted to saying "eff you" and hanging up on me :)
- Kim replies to MarcI received this same message. Stating if I didn't call back it would be considered a 2nd violation. They said I should call to help them help me!
- Kim replies to Really frustrated| 1 replyThis is the same msg I received. Definitely a scam! They said they were from the Treasury Dept.
