I got a call from this number claiming that I was receiving a government grant for $9200 dollars they gave me a code to give the guy who answers the call. I think this is a scam. how can I know who to trust?

The answer to that is very simple. Be a trusting person, but check everything. The sure sign of a scam - 100% every time - is when you are asked to pay money, to get money. As we all know if you win a lottery, they deduct the tax. When you get a pay check, they deduct the tax. Never, ever, are you asked to send money in advance. The method of payment is the next sign of a scam. Wire transfer. That is Western Union, MoneyPak, etc. They are cash. That's why the criminals ask you to use it. Anyone that asks you to buy, or pay, using a wire transfer service is a crook. Don't believe me? Head on over to Western Unions' web site.
