202-664-1107

I received a complaint this morning that someone is pretending to be an IRS "officer" calling about problems with fraud charges on a tax return.  The complainant called the number provided 202-664-1107 and spoke to someone who identified themselves as Officer James Wilson - badge number 14058.  When the complainant asked a couple of questions the "officer" hung up.  I called the same number and someone with an Indian type accent answered "Internal Revenue Service."  I recognized the background noise as a telemarketing type boiler room.  I asked the person,  "Where is your office located at - are you in Washington DC?"  The person hung up.  Don't fall for this scam folks.  This is not legitimate and you will become a victim.

Received a call (voice mail, since I didn't pick up) talking about tax fraud and asking me to call back.  Definitely a scam.
