The caller that called at 528 PM said good morning this is Brian Jefferson, he had an accent and left a voicemail stating that he was from the IRS Tax Holding department and was to notify that a Legal Petition was filed in my name and social security number.  He then stated a law suit would be filed today and to call to call 202808 3727.  He never stated our names but stated that an IRS warrant would be issued.  Phone Scam

Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

A Mike Brown (then later says his name is Jefferson) calls from IRS and states that there is a legal issue under your ssn# regarding a federal tax claim lawsuit. Also states there is a warrant for your arrest for criminal allegations. A lot of static is on the line to where you can hear the guy.

Received a call from 202-808-3727 from a scammer pretending to be an IRS agent.  This is the 2nd time we have gotten a call like this.  I do not call back, but I have heard they ask for payment of money due over the phone to avoid a lawsuit by the IRS. The message they leave does not include your name or any of your info, they are just phishing,

I received this call today the accented person was very rude and hung up the phone several times.  He ever went as far to say that i would be arrested. He told me that i would receive paper regarding the law suit that was filed in my name. THIs is a serious scam that could kill a senior by hearing the tone of this person voice. I was really intimated by by what stated to me someone should do something about these scam.

Returned home today, August 8, 2014, to find a message from Brian Jefferson, identifying himself as an employee of the IRS tax code department. He insisted I return the call ASAP because my social security number has been identitied with illegal/criminal issues and was scheduled for legal proceedings and a lawsuit today. His spoken English was unrefined and he delivered his message with a tone of authoritative aggression. He mentioned no household name.

Thanks for others who have taken the time to write their experiences. A quick internet search of this number brought up your comments which affirmed my thoughts that this is indeed a scam. I agree with the post REXirs placed above, and I'm going to pass this information through several channels including the IRS because it is indeed sad to consider people being duped from their earned money, especially seniors or improvised folks who don't use the internet to get a quick heads up on scams like this.... Such a shame that anyone would purposely impose stress and intimidation to line their own pockets.

Same thing as others are saying.  Indian sounding guy on scratchy line saying hes with IRS and that they are filing charges against me.  Asked if $3,000 sounded better than $50k + in court fees.  Said he was filing charges/paperwork and that local law enforcement would contact me.  This page here and the IRS' own page made it clear this was a scam: http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/IRS-Releases- ... I typically ignore all calls from numbers I don't recognize. Today a guy left a message saying he was Frank Jefferson from the Internal Revenue Service. I agree with previous posts he sounded nasty and threatening. Said a legal petition was filed for tax fraud with my SSN, but didn't give any personal information about me. I knew it didn't smell right and found your comments. Thanks for providing information about reporting this scam. I notified both the IRS and FCC.
