Claimed to be Pepco saying they sent previous turn off notices for non payment (they have not) and were going to shut off power today. Our bill has been paid in full and the check has been cashed a week ago ago according to the bank statement, so this seems like it's a SCAM or maybe Pepco is terrible at record keeping.

THIS IS NOT PEPCO, they are a scam posing to be PEPCO. I've reported this number to the REAL Pepco and they told me it is not affiliated with them. I've filed a report with the FTC about them, I suggest you do the same. The real PEPCO does not need to "send someone" to turn your power off. That is not how they work. Just like the IRS will NEVER call you. ALL CORRESPONDENCE IS DONE THROUGH MAIL. Please be smart.

Called my landline today, 8/25/2018 at 9:15 AM and CID displayed Potomac Elec Co 202-833-7500 and a VM was left.  Unfortunately I couldn't understand what the message said as it was muffled. IF It's Pepco, not sure why they would be calling my house on a Saturday morning as my bill has been paid and there is no power outages in my area. I suspect this is just another random scam call!

    pissed off
someone who does not speak English well calls and says that I need to call 800-348-8353 because a truck is on the way to turn off the power in my building within the next 30 minutes. Must be a spoofed number call because 2 hours later the lights are still on. Must think I have nothing better to do than play their stupid games

I don't think this is really Pepco.  I moved from the mid-Atlantic area almost 4 years ago but never had service with Pepco.  I now live in the deep south so there would be no reason for them to call me.  Also, if this were a legitimate call, why wouldn't they leave voice mail instead of the usual ploy of letting the phone ring about 4 times and then disconnecting like all the rest of the robocall scammers do.

Got a call about a disconnect notice for nonpayment. We have Potomac Edison up here not PEPCO and our bill is current.  They hung up when I asked questions.

Caller id showed "Potomac Elec Po". A man with a heavy Indian accent introduced himself as Bill  from Pepco and asked to speak with my husband using his name. Threatened to disconnect power, because we are behind with payments. We are not! My husband told him to go ahead and ended the call.

    Not PEPCO!!
This is not Pepco; the man told me that he was from Pepco disconnection service department and when I told him that we do not have Pepco, so I am not sure why he would be calling me.  His response was "So, that you wife can know who I am when she is riding me" or something to that effect.  Needless to say, I wish I could have come through the phone, but that is what you get with these [***].  DEFINITELY block this number and do not give them any of your information.

FAKE Pepco call. Called me on a number I would never have listed as being with pepco in a million years. Just to be sure, I checked my bill online and its up-to-date.

Recording said that my electricity would "experience disruptions" within the next 30 minutes if I didn't call them back at: 800-920-8360.

Called my landline on 5/4/2019 at 1:18 pm and CID displayed Potomac Elec PO 202-833-7500 and no VM was left. Since no message was left, the call wasn't important. No reason for them to be calling my residence on a Saturday as my account is up to date and there's no power outages in my area. Just another Scam Call 😡.

Please be careful when speaking with the person calling and ask questions!!! My caller ID even stated SPAM - PEPCO on it.   I received a call as well as a friend who lives with me stating that my power was about to be shut off due to an unpaid balance and that notices in a red envelope had been sent and I needed to call an 800 number to pay the bill and so my power would not be cut off.  I know for a fact I do not have an unpaid balance and the person on the other end could not provide the amount owed; stating that the 800 number has the information.  I told him, I am not playing into the scam and get a doggone job, then they hung up!

Scammer pretending to be PEPCO (Potomac Electric Power Company). They are actually now producing a believable Caller ID message that says POTOMAC ELEC PO in addition to the forged phone number. An obvious scam; I am not even in their service area so there is no reason whatsoever for the real PEPCO to be calling me.

This call is NOT from Pepco.  The scammer is using a valid Pepco number to perpetrate a scam.  It's extremely common for scammers to use software to show a real phone number and pretend to be a large company calling you.

It is a scam, robofishing call spoofing Pepco‘s legitimate number; the rrcorded call leaves a message that your electricity will be cut off unless you pay the money — odd because I don’t have a Pepco account. Total scam, if it was Pepco, they would leave a message.

An app on my phone identifies this as "the PEPCO disconnection scam". The caller will leave a message that your power will be turned off in 30 minutes due to non payment. Realize the scammers are cloning PEPCO's actual number! If you talk to them, you will be asked to pay with gift cards!
