Received a text saying, "Urgent message: Barclay Fraud Dept - Your credit card has been temporary restricted. Please call us at 866-282-5315 ASAP to verify your account." When they said "temporary" restricted instead of "temporarily" restricted was the first hint of trouble. Also, the number to call was NOT the number on the back of the Barclay card. Lastly, it came to me, instead of my husband, who is the owner of the account.

Forward all suspicious texts to 7726 which is the code used by most cell phone providers to report these type of texts. If it is not accepted, then call your provider to verify. Never click on any links or call any number shown on the text. Instead call the number on the back of your card (if you have a bank card, many are autodialers in the hopes of reaching someone who will answer the text and or phone call) to verify any information that was asked of you. Then simply block and delete the number.

Similar to others but it was about a Capital One card, text was to my husband not me.  They have cleaned up the “temporary” and changed to “temporarily “. Would be easier  to be fooled. We had a similar text from Barclays this summer that was legit so we are wary.

Got a text at 3.34am saying my BofA debit card was restricted due to security. Spelling was correct but a different 888 number to call than everyone posting here and certainly not my bank's number.

My text was same as the other, but said capitol one atm/debit card restricted. Guess they change up the banks. I don't have one and when I Googled  capitol one, it was not their fraud number to call. Sadly, they'll hook in a bunch of poor suckers

I got a text from this number saying that my ATM/Debit card was temporarily restricted and to call an 866 number to resolve. I searched both numbers as neither matched the phone number on the back of my card. Definitely a scam.
