- OscarHmmm interesting ... I had just used by BofA credit card for an ATM cash advance, something I had never done previously. So when I got a text from this number saying that my card had been "temporarily restricted" it seemed totally legitimate - BofA was just being cautious about potentially suspicious activity. On the other hand normally a legitimate message would say "your card ending in 1234" which this one didn't. So I checked here and sure enough, boom, it's a bogus text. Glad you folks have been reporting it. Anyway I've used the card since with no problems, there's no hold on it.
But how did they know I had a BofA card??? Or that I had JUST used it in an unusual way??? Just coincidence???- Call type: Scam suspicion
- ConcernedGot a text message from this number informing chase fraud. Unbelievable. Glad I have the sense to call my bank directly. They ask for your debit card number and account number.

- ColleenGot a text last Thursday, 4/18/2019 that reads," Free Msg: BofA Fraud: A security hold has been placed on your Bank Of America debit card, please call 1.888.272.1718 to verify your account." I stupidly called the number and almost put in my debit card number in to 'verify'. Decided not to cuz I had a hard day at work and was too tired. Thank God, I didn't input my debit card number. This is definitely a scam. Researched the other number and it's showing up as a bad number as well.

- GBI received a text: "Free Msg: Chase Fraud - For your protection, a hold has been placed on your Chase ATM/debit card. Please call 866-253-0353 to verify your account." We don't have a Chase ATM/debit card, but I always check first, even if/when there's a match. Never got a legit notice yet. I think they use various bank names randomly, hoping for a match ... and for someone who will fall for it.
