- Deb| 1 replyI just got this call and is for a debt from Capitol One from 2001, which I now have 2 capitol one cards, if you look this number up on reverse phone numbers it comes up One Communication which is probably how they found my phone number in the 1st place. Says I will get a summons at work and at home this is not my home phone number....so do they know me or is it for work???????

- frankJust got a call from them over a 1998 capital one bill, they told me I would be served a summons for fraud. Funny, the statute of limitations in maine for even fraud have lon since passed, 6 years is how long they have to collect it here. I think its amusing. I told them to serve me here at the hospice, as I only have a month to live. Lol I really am dying of cancer too

- frank replies to DebThey told me they would serve me a summons here at the hospice too. If I didnt have only a month to live, id go after the [***] for harrassment
- frankJust remember... in all states the statute of limitations for a debt is 3 to 15 years, depending on the state. Almost all are 5 or 6 years, with rhode island being 15 years. After that your bill is uncollectable in court. Dont let these [***] [***] suck you into paying. By calling me, they dialed the wrong number if they think they will get a penny out of me

- AlThank you all for doing these feedbacks. It is greatly appreciated. Especially with all these scams and liers out there.
I just got a call from them with the same message as the ones reported. That they will serve me and sue me and that they had matched my SS# with these debts. That I needed to call them back or I would loose my rights if I didn't, etc etc.- Call type: Debt collector
- CmcI received a call today from the very same number 203-610-8489! Lady(I use the term loosely) left an 18 second partial message on my voice mail. Computer voice first said my name then a woman came on and said that my SS number(not me) had been involved in fraudulent activities and charges were being filed against it the courts(what courts tennis?). I laughed at how funny and stupid it was worded when I heard message then it made me mad. I called back the number on my caller id because she didn't leave any call back info. Man answers the phone and says hold...I hung up and called back. He answered this time as National Association of Attorneys. I told him I needed his physical business address to provide to Texas State Attorney General. He stuttered and said I don't have to give that out. I said yes sir you do and the attorney's name filing the charge. Operating a public law office would require it otherwise you are the one committing fraud. He hung up. I did report this and I think everyone should. I do owe anyone and even if I did I would not give these moron scammers any info.
- frank replies to sallyCall them right back from work saying you are the boss and she/he was fired for too many personal phone calls. Works like a charm
- AggravatedI have been having a similar issue for the past 2 days. This is absolutely a scam. I'm a collection agent and the way they're going about it is absolutely illegal. By law they have to disclose what company they are calling from, provide their name, state what is fraudulent, the filing attorney and address (that you send a letter to requesting information regarding your "case" that should provide initial date of original debt). Look up the . The messages they leave violates the law... they are not allowed to provide you a summons without your first being able to address the debt. No judge is going to put up with that.
The National Association of Attorneys is not a collection group but a site that lawyers can get together and network.... like Facebook.

These scam artists are also calling from a VOip number 913.730.7399 in case you see this one pop up on your phone. Please be sure to report these numbers to the authorities and State Attorney General of the local state.- Caller: Will not Provide / Fraudlence Alert

- Aggravated replies to Badge714Calling and stating they are filing "Criminal Charges" is a scare tactic used to get folks to call. By law, any legitimate collection agency may not threaten/bully/coerce as debt is not a criminal matter. DO report these idiots and advise them that you are reporting any phone numbers you receive from them to the FBI, local authorities, FTC and State Attorney General. Advise them that the messages they leave are against federal law and they need to cease and desist calling. Also advise these zombie collectors that you have made a copy of their message(s), noted each one and will be absolutey providing those message to law enforcement officials. Also, by law, they cannot leave a message threatening anyone as a collection/debt collector without disclosing their name, and the name of the company they are working for and their business address. If they will not provide their company, name, etc., then advise them again that you will be going to various law enforcement officials for fraudulent collections activities that is a crime with jail time.
NEVER give out your address or social security number if they ask for it. Instead, have them give it to you... if they refuse, remind them that if they were a legitimate collection agency, they would already have your information. Without it, they may not serve a summons.. even at work. Also, they may not serve a summons without your being notified, in writing, what the original of your debt is to include the original date of delinquency. If that debt is outside the statute of limitation for your state for them to legally collect, tell them to shove it up their keaster and advise them that they are practicing illegally collection practices.
