- JANEComes thru as a data call...and if you answer it...it starts to call the number back automatically. If you do not answer it does not leave a message. A computer generated call that you can not stop. A real time waster.
- Caller: HIGHER ONE
- justinGot the call and didnt answer since I didnt know who it was. They called my CELL PHONE
- KhurramI got a call from them.....I didn't answer but they left a message on my cellphone as well

- crystal| 2 repliesThey called from this number (203-776-7776) and left a message on my answering machine that there was "troubling activity on my higher 1 account" and to please call toll-free 888-822-3377 or to call the customer service number on the back of the card. I have no such account with anyone.
- RJS replies to crystalI just got the same call today. They say to call the 800 number on the back of my card...however don't reference what card they are calling about?!
- neighbor| 8 replieshigherone is a company that a lot of universities use for finances. i recently had a class i registered for get cancelled, and instead of refunding my credit card they told me i have to use my higherone card and transfer the balance myself. i had no idea what they were talking about, but it turns out i got this card in the mail a year ago and cut it up thinking it was some company trying to trick me into a credit card. so i had the university cancel my old unactivated card and send a new one about 4 days ago, and just called me today (of course i didn't answer and now i can't get ahold of anybody to figure out why they called).

- lebymom replies to neighbor| 7 repliesI think you are full of crap and part of the scam. My son's school had no idea who higherone is or of any refund due my son. Said it's a scam, which was already obvious to me with a masters in social work and another in law enforcement and years working in consumer protection. Shame on you people trying to prey on our children's inexperience. Fortunately, my son is a chip off the old block and did not call/ give these folks his personal info. Parasites.
- sebastian replies to lebymom| 4 repliesYou, like many law enforcement officials (and "consumer protection" personnel, a.k.a. rent-a-cops), are unfortunately a complete moron. I'm not sure which joke school your son goes to, but you've probably never heard of higher one because ITT Tech (which you and your son both probably attended) isn't a real school. I on the other hand am a second year law student at the University of Georgia, and by God, we have higher one! Now isn't that just incredible! Great police work, not that I'm surprised. I'm sure that with your son being a "chip off the old block" he'll grow up to be as profoundly stupid as you are and usher in a new era of overly suspicious imbeciles policing our streets and guarding our malls; as I'm sure you do on a daily basis. Do some research next time before you go making stupid comments
- detectiveI keep getting these calls. From previous callers notes I see it is from a University. I graduated with my Masters Degree over 10 yrs ago and would know if I had money coming back to me. My loans were with Sallie Mae and I do not believe this company would use this type of company. I believe this is a scam and just do not answere the phone. If you have caller ID, screen your calls like I do and save yourself time by not ansering the phone.

- Matt| 1 replyGoogle is your friend, Higher One is a legitimate company, however the number that is calling probably is using them as a front.
- Sgt replies to MattI have a higher one account and they called me today, my higherone account has my school name in the web address though https://ctuconnectcard.higheroneaccount.com/
- RduluozI received a call from this number yesterday (on a cell-phone). They didn't leave a message so I don't know what it was about.
I recently registered at Portland State which uses HigherOne cards as their student ID. I received my card yesterday and although I didn't activate it until last night (later than the time-stamp on the missed call), it'd be odd for this to be simply a coincidence. - DMDid not answer.

- PCTHigher1 replies to sebastianThanks for letting them know what's what.. I went to a small branch campus of Penn State and WE had HigherOne.. I cannot imagine what kind of school her son goes to, perhaps a state run school. But, HigherOne can be used by students even if the school is not utilizing the service. That might've been her issue.
- momSaid they had a refund for me. To call 866-309-7454 to let them know how I wanted my refund. When I called this number - of course I got prerecorded message regarding Higherone card. We don't have a higher one card nor have we ever heard of it.
- Bryan @ Daytona State College| 1 replyWow. Some people here are idiots. HigherOne is a legitimate company. They typically process financial aid refunds for schools. The way it works is this: You choose how you want the refund from your school. If you want a check, they cut you a check, mail it to you and you're done with them. If you want your money faster, you open a "higherone" account, which is really just a no fee student checking account (same as I have with BoAmerica) and as soon as they get a deposit notice from the school, they release the funds into your accoutn same day. You can then use your HigherOne card (which is really just a visa check card) to access the money at any ATM, bank, etc. Instead of coming onto the internet and screaming "SCAM", try calling the financial aid office of any of the schools listed on their website or your state's attorney general? Durr. Perhaps they just got your number by mistake, we college kids don't exactly have the neatest handwriting after all. Oh, and they typically call to make sure you got your card too so no one else can activate it.

- Breaker Reidman| 1 replyJust got a call from that same number. Good to know that it leads to a legit company like HigherOne, though it's still rather unsettling that such a call would just randomly come through with no one on the other end.
That aside...seriously, there are a lot of you here who could stand to learn some degree of decency on the internet. Why all the namecalling, even if someone is wrong? Does it really make you any better of a person to be that unnecessarily rude? - Jonesy replies to lebymomHigher one is a banking service provided by The Bancorp Bank, Member FDIC. Look it up it is a bank card tha universities use. So I'm not sure about all your education however this is a real card. Whether someone is using it's name as part of a scam I don't know.
