- David Weldytypical call from "the technical support" company.
- Caller: INET FIX TECHNO
- NateI got a call from someone at this number pretending that my AOL account (I don't even have one) had "warning messages."
- Caller: INET FIX TECHNO
- sheila Robinson| 1 replyThey made changes on my computer and now it is not working correctly
- Caller: inet fix technology
- Slim replies to sheila RobinsonSince the scammer accessed the computer, they probably did one or more of the following:
• Disabled the anti-virus software
• Added nasty malware to the computer
• Copied the Contact List (so they can email your soon-to-be ex-friends)
• Copied any financial data or passwords they could find
• Compromised the ID
• "Zombied" the computer, so it would respond to THEIR commands sent via internet
• Deleted some important files
• Asked for money to repair the damage they caused
What can you do immediately after such an attack?
1. Pull the cables on the computer, so it cannot access the internet.
2. Change ALL passwords stored on the computer
3. Run FULL malware scans on the computer, in "SAFE" mode!
4. Change the passwords again, particularly if the malware scans showed anything
5. Inform your bank and credit card companies
6. Sign up for credit monitoring, and check the status frequently
7. You may have to bring the computer to a local repair shop, and tell them the story.
8. Tell friends what happened, so they can be aware of strange emails from you
9. Plug in the computer only AFTER all the above have been done
10. Change the passwords on all online accounts. Even better - access a "safe", uninfected computer, and chance your online account passwords RIGHT NOW.

It is highly doubtful that your callers are reading here also. We can't stop anyone from calling you either or remove from a list.
Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

- Kahn| 1 replyI have received a phoe call from (470) 237 2758 and when I called back the guy said my computer has virus and I have to pay them to have it fixed. When I said how they know my computer is infected , he denied to provide an explanation, instead said that if I don't pay this company to fix my computer then within 24 hours to 48 hours my computer will not operate anymore. Please advise what I should do.
- Caller: inet fix techno (as it appeared on caller id)
- Tamianth replies to KahnIgnore it, they can do nothing as long as you do not give them access to your computer. You have no virus, there is no way they can know what is going on with anyone's computers anyplace. It is a scam to get into your computer, steal any and all information you may keep there and take over your computer. They could install malware, keyloggers etc or turn you computer into a zombie spam bot. Windows nor microsoft cold calls people. The only time they will ever call is if you put in a call first for tech support.
The only persons who should be touching your computer is you, your manufacturer, Real Windows support that you have called and/or maybe a real live tech you see face to face!
