I answered the phone by saying "Hello" once and heard no sound. After a couple of seconds, I hung up. I received a call by the same number the day before, but did not answer it and no voicemail was left.

Same here. Very annoying.

I received a call from this number and the whole interaction creeped me completely out. I answered because I've been trying to unsubscribe from all the telemarketing calls I've been receiving lately but when I picked up all I heard was what sounded like a call center in the background and heavy (creepy) breathing. I called the phone number back to find out who or what company it was and a man answered. I explained I received a call from this number and I asked who I was speaking with. The conversation went as follows:

Me: "Who is this?"

Man with a very heavy accent: "This is Steve."

Me: "Steve who?"

Man: "Steve Lawrence. And I am looking for ___________ (my name). I am in love with her."

Me: "I don't know who you are but do not call this number again."

Man: "I'm going to call you every day and I will not stop. I am in love with her." He just continued to explain how he was going to call and contact my number every day and he wouldn't stop until he made contact.

*I hung up and blocked the number*

This was a short conversation but I found this very, VERY creepy. I know finding names and numbers might be fairly easy with social media but it still gave me the "ick" factor. How can we stop this from happening in the future?

The IRS.. sounds like this guy was Middle Eastern. Very heavy accent. Asked for me by name. I didn't confirm. I asked 2 times who is this? He hung up.

I have gotten 2-3 calls from this number for days.  I blocked the number after the first call.  I called back today but it never made a connection.  Very weird.

I got the same - I will call every day, but no I love so you must be special! I’m blocking. I hope everyone reports them but I know many are outsmarting with burner numbers.

Picked up the phone saying “may I help you”, I said it three times, the first time I heard nothing and then I heard call Center noise in the background saying something about cell phones. After they said nothing I just said “if you aren’t going to say anything don’t call again”... blocked!

This number has called me 4 times today. I finally answered the last call and after saying hello at least four times a heavily accented woman said hello is this Sarah? I couldn’t understand where she said she was calling from, but I told her to stop calling as this was the fourth call I received and she hung up.

I received 2 calls with no one there. On the third call I answered and waited. When he got on the line I asked why he called me. In a very heavy accent he said:[***] up mother fu**er and hung up. WTH?

This number called and asked for me by name. A woman with a heavy accent, claiming to work for the "US Federal Grant Department". I apparently was selected to be awarded "$9,000"--to which I responded that the US government doesn't do that. And she hung up.

You got the grant offer too? Then it must be legitimate! (Sarcasm)

Called twice today. I answered but they wouldn’t talk. I called back and a man answered by saying “hm”. I said “Hello?” And then he hung up. Blocked.

I received calls from this number daily answered today and they did not say anything and hung up.

They claim to be IRS

Have been going back and forth with what sounded like an asian male tried to call back to call back but was put on hold indefinently.

I just got my daughter a phone and I was home and I heard her phone ringing and I said hello. It replied is this the owner of __________ (my daughter's name) phone? I said no and of course, I said this is the wrong number and hung up and deleted that number

Called at 1 A. M. , I didn't answer....but a 1am phone call is ridiculous!

this number called me while i was at school but i did not answer and after this number called some other numbers from Antigua & Bermuda, Washington DC, New York and Saint George kept calling my phone i answered when some of the calls but nobody answered so i hung up and they still calling me
