I did not answer the phone when this call came in, but the weird thing was that the rings were very short.  Has anyone else had this happen?

Receive this call today only rang a couple of seconds so caller id could not pick it up. Let me guess, yet another junk debt buyer trick to get you to answer or return call. Portfolio Recovery shame on you!

I got 2 calls today  rang twice  I do not know anyone in Seattle

Phone rang at 10:04 pm. two times.   Caller ID showed this number only as Seattle WA.  
Phoned number back and there is a recording stating, "If you do not wish to receive future calls on promotional specials please press 1 to be placed on our DO NOT CALL LIST-allow 72 hours for this to take place.  Pressed 1 and received auto anwser of thank you.
Not sure if there will be any future problems or not.

Phone call at 10:24pm.  I answered, but there was no reply at the other end.

Received call from this number at 10:30 EST.  Only rang once.

Received call at 10:24 PM EST. Rang half of a ring. Woke me up and scared the heck out of me. I'm on the Do Not Call List & am reporting this directly to them.

reveived a call from this number at about 245pm. After saying "hello various times no one on the other end.

19 Feb 2010 3:38 pm CST - Only rang a couple of times. No one there when I answered, only dial-tone; no message left.

I received call at 9:13 PM ET.  I answered the phone and no one on the other end.

I received a call at 9:23pm et.I answered and it hung up. I called back the number and there was a recorded greeting asking if i want to put on the do not call list

Reported this number to the National DNC Registry on 2-20-10 after receiving multiple calls in a three day period.

also got multiple calls with funny rings, i just blocked this number so they can not call back

got the call. called back pressed 1 to be taken off list, hope it works...

This perpetator is using an automated canvas campaign. From what I have determined targetted numbers in the New Castle County Delware area are getting 4 or 5 calls beach day. They seem to be casing residences using a mass calling list. Speculation: Organized crime and telephone calling list companies probe to determine when one is likely to be home and away. To escape identification a telephone relay scheme initiates the call to the host phone number where it receives instructions to call the target number. The host number then relays the call to the residence and the results of the call are recorded and reported to the dialer database. The results can then be sold to interested parties. Warning: If you have extended calling services be sure to change your access phone number from time to time. Otherwise your messaging services could be used. This would be discovered when you receive a very large phone bill. This scheme could serve as a front to cover another illegal activity. In this scenario  random calls would be used to hide calls from parties trying to avoid detection. One can only surmise the calls a clandestine in nature.

Their website says they provide phone service for small business. I have had six calls from them in under two weeks. They never say anything.

I live in Florida so I'd have to say that the calls are targeting well beyond the New Castle Delaware area.  My phone range only twice and that was it,.. I did not answer. It the perpetrator is making a determination based on no answer with the phone ringing only twice, they'd have to be pretty stupid to assume no one is home. The caller I.D. displayed
"service message."  If the caller is attempting to determine when my residence is occupied or not, it will be a big shock since I live in a heavily guarded community with plenty of security, neighborhood watch programs, surveillance cameras,  a police station across the street, and with some police actually living in my development!  BIG MISTAKE if they make a trip here since they'll get only so far before realizing their efforts were in vain.  And thanks for the excellent feedback from "AJ Hiker!"

I went down to the "shack" as they call it. Dad had all of the best gear put in. They said they like the Night Ranger cameras best. With those they can see in the darkest of nights as though it where day light. Self tracking, seismic sensors, Seems interesting but I leave that to them. I ask them to take care of nieghbors and anyone going by. They have a good rapport with the local police and troopers. Help out when called upon. I am sure you live in very safe surroundings fair thee well.
