Business Advice - say they're giving you a rebate to look over their information. What they don't tell you is that they are CHARGING YOUR TELEPHONE #! They go through this cutesy process then hand you over to verification which infers that they are charging. This is complete [***].

Received a call from "Business Advisor" saying that they wanted to verify my address to send me a rebate from the phone company. "Joe" put me over to another person to record the information. I felt something was up, so I asked if I would be charged for this. When he said I would be charged $49.95 I told him that would NOT be OK and immediately hung up.

Received a call from "Business Advisor" saying that they wanted to verify my address to send me a rebate from the phone company. The caller then said he was passing me to someone to confirm my authorization. I told him I wasn't interested and hung up. I am on the no call list but it doesn't seem to help.

Just got the call, sounded like an ACORN worker on the other end, laughed, hung up and called the FCC, like it'll do any good.

Just got a call from Donnell from Business Advisor.

Said they were giving away a rebate. I told them I wasn't interested but Donnell said I was being hasty. They were simply sending me information and if I wasn't interested, then I don't need to do anything. Ok, I said.

They were super charming and I agreed to verify my mailing address. It all sounded harmless until I checked this site. Great.

I don't want to be charged for something I did NOT agree to!

    How do I fix this?!

My call went like all the others though I got really suspicious when they started the verification and had the wrong business name but they kept trying to get me to verify by saying I was qualified by the phone number. So I just hung up.

If they hooked you, wait until you get your phone bill and check it.  The charge will probably be on there.  Call your phone company and tell them you did not authorize the charge and you are not paying it.  When you pay your phone bill, pay only the regular charges, not the scam amount.  The phone company will take care of it.  When you talk to your phone company, ask them about putting a "block" on your number so this can't happen again.

I just got a call from this number. Karl was on the other end, talking about a rebate that that he wanted to verify our address. I've gotten this call before, and I verified the address before. The thing about that call is, I told the girl who called that I was a temp, and had no authority to enter into any agreements or incur any charges on behalf of my company. She said that was fine. We received something in the mail from this company, and down at the bottom, in an extension to the letter, folded up so that you'd miss it if you weren't careful, was the explanation of the charges that would be added to our phone bill. I called the number provided, told the CSR that I was a TEMP, and couldn't authorize this, and to please NOT call us again. The man on the other end of the line that day said that he'd be glad to take us off the list, and that the girl who called in the first place should never have signed us up based on the fact that I was a temp. So Karl calls from the same company today. He goes through his spiel, gets to the part where he wants to verify the address, and I very nicely tell him that we've gotten this call before, we've gotten the mailer before, and my boss is not interested. He asked if the owner was available. I told him that it didn't matter if my boss was available, he had already told me that he was not interested and not to verify anything with that company. He said that he would have to speak to the owner to take us off the list, and asked when he could reach him. I told him that he was welcome to keep trying, but that he would likely never get my boss on the phone, as I already knew what his decision was on this issue. He said he'd keep trying, very rudely, I might add, and hung up. So I called the number back, was directed to call the CSR department, and spoke to Lisa, who apologized for Karl's behaviour and *said* she'd take our name off of the call list. These guys are jerks.

I got home there was a message on my answering machine alot of noice and people laughing. The person who was doing the talking said"Don't mess with me" I really couldn't make out the rest. I have the number and will not erase the message. I will check my phone bill and if their is a charge I will not pay it, I will get my number blocked and I will go to the police.

    Hi Scottie,

What's the number attached on that bill you received? I'd like to make sure we're taken off the list.
