i recieve this called saying they are from the irs and that they are filing a lawsuit against me and i will be arrested today.

Received a call on my cell number saying he was an officer with the IRS, wishing us luck if we did not return the call immediately and threatening arrest. This call was not from any government agency-it is an unscrupulous scammer and I have reported it to the attorney general in Washington state. It is located on Bainbridge Island.There isn't even any IRS office on Bainbridge.
My husband is pretty mad-we pay all our taxes and we are over 55, so this scam may be aimed at older
Americans who become scared. We both have advanced degrees and we are not scared, so we sent this info to our attorney and requested he get as much info as possible so we can turn it over to law enforcement authorities and get the perpretrators arrested.

Also then I called them and asked please don't cut off my head. LOL After a few words I gave them.

Its obvious these are scammers. Most know the IRS has to, by law, first send u a notice in the mail. And hello, the IRS knows who we are. This person left a voicemail on my cell and was not the Pakistanian I spoke to when I called to see who called me. He first asked my name. I gave him "the what for" and told him not to call again.
These people are also claiming to be a certain officer. Please be cautious, wary, these people know what makes most people nervous. Do not engage them. Protect your families.

Received a voice recording from " Officer White" via hime phone -- claiming that my wife was in serious trouble with IRS, and if we did not call back immediately, all he could wish us was, " good luck.".Now, am attempting to report  fictitiously and obvious scam.  What actions has everyone else taken? Obviously they are after money, how do we block, and prevent this attempt at thievery?

I just had the same message on my cell also. I had a feeling it was a scam but called back. "Officer Adam Webster" was gone for the day and was told to call tomorrow. I don't think so

I received one too and when I called back the background music was vacation music

We were told we would be arrested etc. it was Adam Webster also    I agree they're targeting seniors.  My sister who lives a couple hundred miles from me got a call also hers was from Steve Martin. Really!  These people r dumber then they think we r.  I'm reporting this number also.

got a call today.  saying it was from the IRS and it was Adam West also..  we have a real issue with IRS and are getting it taken care of.  Thanks for the heads up on this scam

We're in LA and got the same call from "Officer Adam Webster" of the IRS. Where is the best place to report this?

These are criminal extortionists operating in overseas boiler rooms using VOIP to alter their identities and locations and out of the reach of US law enforcement.

It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.

By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.

Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.

They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.

Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.

The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.

If you get what you suspect is a scam call, report it to TIGTA through its Web site or call 800-366-4484.

I got the same threatening call from "officer Webster from the IRS" a week. ago & realized there is no IRS office in that area code. I called back & got flamenco music & then a busy signal! I'm wondering how they got my private cell phone number because I haven't had any unknown calls for 15 years. It was pretty bothersome.

Not much anyone can do, the scammers are located in India and Pakistan, and as such beyond the reach of US law.

Call blocker might help.  But it's not a perfect solution.  They just call from different numbers and spoof more local numbers.

I am 29 years old and I have received a phone call from this Bain bridge number claiming that they are IRS and they filed a lawsuit against me. They gave me an address that I haven't lived at for nine years and when I tried to tell them that this is a scam he got so mad at me, said he's going to call the sheriffs office right away and hung up on me lol
