I got hooked in from a door-to-door guy who said I would receive a free week of newspaper to try out out, and if I didn't like the newspaper I can cancel before the week was up. After that meeting, I called their customer service a day later to clarify the situation, and they told me that no free week special was happening and there was a misunderstanding.

I then canceled the subscription and I told them to place me on a do not call list.

I get anywhere from 1-3 calls a day from them. f'n [***]. I wish I never answered my door that day. lol

It's happening to me, too!  I've missed two or three calls a day from this number and they never leave a message.  On my cell phone, which is Do Not Call registered.  I am never there so I haven't had a chance to tell them to stop calling - but it sounds like that would be futile anyway.

Seattle Times calls me everyday.  I have already cancelled my subscription with them and informed them that I'm moving and no longer want their paper, but they continue to call.

Seattle Times has called twice.  I called back the first time and asked them not to call me anymore but lo and behold, there they are again. I have only had this phone a few days so this does not bode well for me.

I have the same problem. They call the cell phone and landline and never leave messages. I think I will answer next time the way my Uncle Bob did with a book salesman that was doing the same thing.
"Are there lots of pretty pictures? I hope there are because I can't read."

Same story - Seattle Times marketers.  When they called today, I asked the rep where he got my cell number from and rather than answering, he asked me if I was a former customer of the Seattle Times. I told him I didn't want the paper and to remove my number and personal information from the database, and in response he asked why - "did we break your window or trash your house or something?" - literally.  I said no, please just remove my name and number from your database.  Then he hung up on me.  Nice.

This number called my direct work line just now. Must be some sort of auto dialer as my work # is not easily accessible. How annoying!

They are calling a cell phone number I don't even use much.  And I'm not even in that state.  Since I rarely use that cell phone number, I don't catch the call, but they keep call it anyway.

Seattle Times calls an average of THREE times a day. We used to have the Post Intelligencer and recently cut back to weekend only and then just cancelled altogether since they only sporadically managed to deliver us the paper. Since then, the Times has started calling and will not stop and now they have started delivering us a daily paper to our house s$tating that they are free? What?

The first time I received a phone call from these people I nicely told them that I was not interested and to please remove me from their data base

This is actually a third party collection agency, hired by the Seattle Times, calling to collect unpaid newspaper subscription bills. But beware, they make promises like cutting you a deal on the bill, like adding 4 weeks for free if I pay. Come to find out, the Seattle Times can't honor that promotion. Don't listen to their "deals!" If you have a billing problem, deal with the actual newspaper customer service, not bill collectors.

Same here. We cancelled our paper over a month ago as we were moving and now they are harassing us at LEAST a few times a day. Whats ironic is we were considering having the paper delivered to our new place, but they've p*ssed us off so bad that theres no way we'll subscribe now. Good marketing strategy, guys! You really won us over!

Call came in at 2:12pm 4/10/09 ... Not sure how they got my work number since I only give it to those who have a legitimate need for it!! Do they have a frakin' autodialer or something??

Everybody, please put the Seattle Times on your phone's call-block list and then file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. That will teach them a lesson.
