- FreebassThis is a FAKE IRS scam from what sounds like eastern Europe.
- Caller: Fake IRS
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- JDThese individuals impersonate officers working on behalf of the IRS accusing innocent people of tax fraud. They can be very aggressive and make it sound like they're legitimate (give you their name and badge number) as well as a case file # for your supposed case. They may ask you to go to the nearest Target or Walmart to purchase gift cards with silver scratchable backs on them and have them read the numbers off to them once you've purchased. They may also ask you to drop them in a drop box without postage. This is because services like FedEx and UPS have to shred monetary items that are unmarked. Remember that the IRS will never threaten to have you arrested or take your credit or debit card number over the phone.

- SS| 1 replyNot sure if the call was legitimate, but I received a random call saying I qualify for a $9,000 grant due to a survey I filled out. However, I'm not sure I filled one out. Anyways. They said it was free and didn't need to be paid back. I called them back and asked if it was a scam. They said it was their personal number and that I was crazy and asked if I was drunk.

- BigA replies to SSGrants are not issued because you filled out a survey. This could easily be found out by looking on the internet, where you would find that there is no grant, but they will be stealing all your money to "get it".
