Recording stating the IRS was filing a law suit against us at 1039 am 7/27/2015.

I just received the same exact phone call saying there was a warrant out for my husband and I asked who the heck they were and I want to talk to someone else.  I never received a letter from the IRS stating I owed anything.  They hung up on me.

Yawn - same old far Eastern IRS scam.  Even the robocall message is in broken English.  I used to call back and entertain myself for thirty minutes or so.  It's not even worth the trouble anymore.

BTW, 800notes, you really do need that "Scam" option in the call type box!

I received a voice message today that the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me and I needed to call this number back to get more detailed information on this case. When I called the number back it was broken English, then I was hung up on. Happen each time. Then I called my mom and she informed me this was fraud.

Got a call from this number and to my surprise they left a message saying that the IRS wanted to sue me and that I should call back.  I always "google" a phone number that I don't recognize and found this site, I have since blocked that number from calling.

Recorded message left on voice mail. Said the IRS was about to file suit against me and to call the number for more information.

I just received the same phone call as stated below.  It was a really bad automated recording that stated it is from the IRS and they are filing suit against me, but did not state any personally identifying information.  Received the call at 9:33 am EST on 7/28/15 and only left the phone # to call back.  I have not and will not call this # back.

Why doesn't the FBI go after these crooks? They do answer the phone!

It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.

By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.

Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.

They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.

Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.

The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.

If you get what you suspect is a scam call, report it to TIGTA through its Web site or call 800-366-4484.

Received the same IRS call this morning 7/28/2015, was automated, garbled and didn't say who they were calling for.    Really???  I received two calls earlier this year and reported them.  The IRS does not call you, blocked the number.  That is the only thing you can do.

This call caused me to have a major anxiety attack.

Same thing here. Received an automated message stating that the IRS has been trying to reach me, this is my last notice, I need to call them at 206-801-1872. Never used my name or theirs, nothing remotely individualized--just a blanket request for people to call them. Can't imagine what awaits the person who does.
