$10,200 is waiting for me in the federal reserve. All I have to do is register with the Grants Dept. and pay $230 to register my name and release the money that's owed to me. I told the Indian gentleman on the phone to just take the taxes out now and send me the remainder. He tells me that I have to pay the $230 or no money. already thinking that this was a scam; that just assured me that I was right.

    Things to believe:

    • There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
    • If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
    • You have not won big bucks from a benign benefactor, a pot of pesos from PCH, dinero from a doctor, a car from a caller, or a grant from a gracious government    ◄- ◄- ◄- ◄- ◄-
    • The tooth fairy really does not exist
    • Everything you read on the internet is not necessarily true.
    • It is illegal to ask for money for a loan or prize, before awarding the loan or prize!
    • "Free Trips" are loaded with mandatory & costly extras, and you usually must give them your card number after listening to a loooong spiel at a hotel.
    • Microsoft or a different famous software company, or one of their agents did NOT cold call you to fix your computer.
    • The moon is not made of green cheese.
    • The IRS will snailmail you, rather than phone you, if there is a problem.
    • Jackalope milk is not an aphrodisiac.
    • If you Vanilla Card, MoneyGram or Western Union money to a scammer, the money is gone.
    • You should beware of Geeks bearing gifts, specially if the gift is a wooden horse with termites, or a statement that your computer is infected.
    • 876 is NOT your lucky number, and it will cost you money to call that area code!
    • The number you see on your Caller ID may not be the number of the person who called you!

The same as Tim Gill.  I think they are the people responsible for the phone number 245-564-654, in which I have also received redundant calls about being randomly selected to receive Government grant monies.  The person from this number states that she was a representative from the U.S. Department of Treasury.

Although the man was very nice and not ride at all, I was not believing that the government would provide me $10,200 no questions asked by simply calling this number.

My situation parallels everyone here, except I spoke with Charlotte Gonzalez and Elena Pagan. They were both nice, but that whole paying money to Money Gram before receiving my "grant" was a red flag. They definitely know how to say the right things, but I wasn't here for it.

Called to tell me I'd been chosen to receive grant money from the Federal Government...$10,200. When they gave me the number to call immediately after receiving my confirmation number, I looked up the number, found the other posts here and told him I felt this was a scam that I had just pulled this site up and he hung up on me....LOL

The caller said the Federal Government selected me to receive a Federal Grant for 10,000 that did not have to be paid back. The reason I was selected was because I paid my taxes and have not filed bankruptcy in the last 6 months.Wanted to know how I wanted to receive my money direct deposit/ debt card deposit or what. He stated I needed to write down this verification number BR1604 and to call the number 206 866 5673 and speak with the verification Supervisor.

the number that called me was 245-564-654 (there was no fourth number... so strange). said the same thing. that it was a fed reserve thing.. the only thing i can think of was that we filled out a survey and our number must have been sold to telemarketers and scammers. :/ sucks butt because she confirmed all of my information (address, name, telephone, but no social or bank account... thank god) so yeah, it's totally sketch. didnt believe it for one sec. Fed Bank doesnt have me call them for student loans. I've done them in the past and they're just trying to get some money.
