Celtic, you may be right, but in this case, it was Amazon Prime. (I wasn't sure myself, so when I noticed this missed call I googled the number. It coincided with my Amazon delivery, and realized this particular number is from Amazon.)

As did I Nic, I'm just saying for everyone else that if they're not sure about it to find another Amazon number and check. I wasn't dissing your post, just making a point that these sleezeballs DO do this

This is Amazon Prime Delivery Service. I answered it and the driver was lost.

Well, they shouldn't have the identity blocked, then. I don't answer if I don't know who is calling. That "do not call" list is useless.

And this is a recurring delivery, every 60 days for the past 7 or 8 years. They have always just left it at my door. Why all the phone calls today?

Got a call today from this number. Did not answer. I was expecting a package from amazon and I got the text and email that it had been delivered around the same time as the call.

The trouble with Caller-iD, is it doesn't actually show the actual number they are calling from and only show the number they want us to see. Blocking this number means denying Amazon from confirming delivery. That is of course unless you don't order from Amazon... then go ahead block whatever you wish...

"That Do Not Call list" has no bearing on deficient Caller ID and does not apply to anything but sales calls. Strike "useless", insert "misunderstood". I'd agree a call barrage for something periodic and routine makes no sense, unless Amazon's system thinks you want those nag calls.

That Caller ID is an unreliable informant has been part of my point. It is not a given that only Amazon and/or its labor force generates calls using this number, which I see continues to attract shill-like cheerleaders here.

It is not a given that any delivery is being "denied" for a consignee's failure to answer. There is not one comment here, of a supportive or skeptical nature, suggesting that the stringers refuse to deliver to people whose skulls are not welded to their phones. Amazon would have a tremendous public relations storm if it punished people for exercising totally rational caution when unidentified callers jangled their phones three or six times rapid. And that's before we revisit the other reports of calls made to those who are not parcel consignees and calls made at quite improbable hours.

Just got a call from this number... Answered it. It was an Amazon delivery dude... I have a gate around my yard, so he couldn't deliver it to the door. I told him just to drop it over the gate. I am expecting a package that should be there around today.

Amazong should probably have a better way of figuring this out, but it's a legit number.

My phone rang and I came to this site.  Having read a few of the comments, I decided to call back, because I am expecting several packages from Amazon.  The call led me to an automatic message asking me to call the main Amazon delivery line.  As soon as I hung up, I got a call from a different number (877-252-2701).  It seemed likely it was Amazon again, so I answered this time despite typically ignoring unknown numbers.  It was Amazon Dispatch.  The initial calls were the actual driver trying to get a hold of me because there is a lot of construction around our house, so our home is not very accessible by vehicle during the work day.  I provided specific instructions on where the driver should park to then be able to walk to the house.  Delivery was completed.

.... unless of course you're not expecting any parcels or you get multiple calls hours near dawn, before couriers are even on their routes, which are the among the exceptions reported in this thread. The life I have is doing fine, thanks, but I wonder what is lacking in the lives of cheerleaders who keep changing aliases and barking at me to "Answer this call! Don't block!" and gushing with thanks to "Rebecca" the first shill.

Spare your concern. I'm fairly calm for someone who has endured five kinds of major trauma in the past few years. One more time for you slow children, you can report on your inbound calls to your phones. You cannot stamp your hooves and insist that everyone else will have the same experience. The comments here indeed are not uniformly consistent about the caller's identity or motives. There is no such thing anymore as a "safe phone number", only sincere and dishonest uses of phone numbers.

Saw the number come in this morning (Sunday) and was suspect. It called twice and then I came here to search. Just in case, put on my sweats and was just out the apartment door to go downstairs to check when here comes the delivery person with a package for our address! So yes. It's Amazon. Plain and simple. Thanks for the headsup and verification.

Plain and simple is the fact that scammers spoof legit numbers. If you're not sure, look up and call back

Sunday afternoon:  I've had Amazon Prime for years and they have never called before.  Caller ID showed Seattle WA, but the number was only 7 digits. No area code, so my call blocker blocked it.  That was half an hour ago. No package on the porch, nor am I expecting one until Wednesday.

Verified Amazon Prime. Thanks to all of these posts, I answered the call! Poor delivery guy needed help finding my building. Got a text two seconds later that my package had been delivered. :)

Except it actually is Amazon. If you're expecting a package to be delivered and don't answer your door or the driver can't get to your door they will call. If you don't answer the calls, you will most likely get a call from an 877 number which is Amazon dispatch. I order a lot from Amazon and get calls a lot from them. A majority of the time they call from a Seattle number, which is where their headquarters are.
