- TAG replies to Diane M| 1 replyBAD ADVICE!!! Absolutely DO NOT tell them you want to "Take care of the debt"... this is an admission to owing the debt, which they are recording. Once a dept is past its statue of limitations... (I believe four years) or if it is still within the statue of limitations for collections... once you verbally admit to owing it, the statue of limitations tarts all over again. By law, they must remove it from your credit report after the statute of limitations has run out. NEVER admit to owing the dept or agree to pay the dept , which is the same thing as admitting you owing it.
- Tamianth replies to TAGAnd your wrong also.. the SOL depends on the state you live in, each is different. There is also the fact that this is a extortion scam operation. Not a legit company.

I found several facts that they shared with me that just didn't fit and but what they said to me was exactly what most of these people has written. The call was from 207-221-0843.

- TAG| 1 replyRegarding aggressive collection calls from (207) 221-0843 supposedly the "NA Associates Debt Collection Agency" (a.k.a. "National Attorney Associates Debt Collection Agency"): BELOW IS INFO ON HOW TO FIGHT BACK!!!
PLEASE read the following methods of filing complaints against them... if not for yourself, for the sake of others or those whom they may just be intimidated into giving them money such as the elderly, less educated, or not completely fluent in the English language and hear the words “court” or “arrest” or “served at your place of employment” and panic.
These people are breaking numerous laws associated with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act http://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/rules/rulemaki ... ctices-act-text
I have contacted the Maine Bar Association and they have no record of an actual legal firm by the name of “NA Associates” or “National Attorney Associates” in Maine. They suggested I file complaints with the following agencies and I have done so and it would help if you would do so as well.
It’s extremely important to use the following language in your complaint “UNFAIR and UNETHICAL DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES.” when filing your complaint either verbally over the phone or in written form via the mail of filling out a complaint form on-line.
The Maine Attorney General's Office of Consumer Protection (207) 626-8849 They will take the complaint over the phone and if they get enough phone calls will open up a case against this "firm". PLEASE call and file a complaint.
Also, file complaints with the following agencies:
Consumer Credit Protection Agency of Maine at (207) 624-8527 Dave Leach is the lead investigator. They will mail you a form to fill out with a self-addressed postage-paid envelope in which to return the complaint or you can fill out the complaint for online at www.Credit.Maine.gov
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (a division of the Department of Treasury) (855) 411-2372 You can file the complaint over the phone (which is what I did) or by mail or via their website at www.ConsumerFinanace.gov Note, they will file a complaint against “NA Associates" and its owners (a.k.a. “National Attorney Associates”) as well as the original old creditor and thus, give you two case numbers.
All of the aforementioned agencies warned it could be a scam whereby they use what is called a “Spoof Phone Number” which is a way of attaching an area code from the US to an oversees phone number such as the many scams coming out of India and abroad. The other technique is they use what is referred to as a “Burner Phone” whereby they purchase a disposable phone at an airport and then fly to another state where the call / phone number attaches the area code from the state in which the phone is being used to the phone number that came with the phone.
In that none of these “agents” such a “Karen Carol” or Mr. Jackson “ or "Ms. Foley" (all of whom I named in my complaint) have foreign accents, and it would appear randomly answer different phones (I called several times demanding a physical address in which to send a Cease and Desist Letter, which they refused to give... yet another law broken) I believe this be just an unscrupulous law-breaking bottom-feeder collection agency skirting the law and authorities with a thick wall of anonymity which is about to be broken down.
If there are truly attorneys associated with the so called debt collection agency, then I will find out their names and State Bar License numbers and post them here as well here complaints can be filed against them with their State Bar Associations(s).- Caller: "NA Associates"
