Got the same call from a guy who spoke broken English and told me that there was an arrest warrant out for me for income tax evasion and that unless I settled out of court someone would come and put me in handcuffs and retain me for 72 hours.  When I questioned him and told him that I thought that this call was bogus he hung up on me.  He did know my address which could have been obtained anywhere.  When I read all these previous comments it makes me wonder why the police can't do anything to stop these guys.

    Skip Trace
This is probably a number being used by a credit agency performing skip trace on a creditor who has skipped on a debt. It may be you or your number may have gotten connected with the debt-skipper. The goal is to see if the number will call back, and if you do, they expect to extract whatever information from you they are able in your emotional state. The justification for this is usually found in the security section of a person's contract that allows for justification if they have a reasonable suspicion that you are or you know the debt skipper. Ignore the call. The IRS would never call you in this fashion. If there was a warrant, it would be served without alerting you to the fact. If you would like to follow-up on this, I would suggest that you make a report with law enforcement and scan the report, send it to the IRS. Me, I filter all calls anyway.

Looks like this SCAMMER (being nice) has changed his name from Jeff Taylor to Jeff Gator.  Maybe from the Philippines or Taiwanese I don't think he is from India.  Typical social engineering attempt (high pressure and urgent to have you call back) to scam people for their personally identifiable information (PII) for extortion purposes.  Remember personally identifiable information is information that is like your social security number , first and last name or any other pieces / combination of information that will lead a bread trail path back to an specific individual.  Report the incident to the local, state and federal government.  These scammers are using technology "too hide from" the public and local/government officials. If the IRS wants you they communicate directly via the post office.

I protect people and technology for a living...

    received fake call
They left a message that they were the IRS. They are impersonating the IRS and it is a fake call. The sound of the man's voice was heavy Phillippines accent.

same details as all the other listing - then said I needed to take cash to CVS or Walmart to settle and not be arrested.  When I said the IRS would not have me pay at CVS or Walmart - he hung up.

I received a call today from someone claiming to be from IRS. I see others have had the same call. It seems amazing to me that he government hasn't pursued these people misrepresenting themselves to prosecute them. A friend of mine received the same phone call three weeks ago.
