Received text. Called number attached to text. They rattled off last four of my social and a previous address. I mentioned that only debt I had incurred in that address was paid in full. They got flustered. Said they were calling back tomorrow.

They keep texting me and leaving messages with someone else's name. I don't have debt. What everyone describes here it sounds like a bunch of [***] bought some leaked medical data but somehow only got the SSN and its associated phone number. Do not give these people any information whatsoever!!!!

The voicemails they've been leaving me are like the old portfolio recovery associates voicemails where they pretend to be a lawyer or "serve you an injunction at your work place" type stuff which is illegal under FDCPA.

Remember, if a debt collector threatens or harasses you it's illegal and they're violating the FDCPA (look it up). They also must prove the debt. If what some people posted here is true then they are definitely violating the FDCPA, so I would try to get their company name and address to send this alleged payment and then report them to the government so they get fined. But I'm assuming ECN is not a real company. If you Google the name nothing comes up. But yeah if you're really that worried about it then make them prove the debt by mailing it to you but don't give them your address if they don't have it because that means it's a freaking scam.

Reading and learning are the best things that you can do when you have a problem.  Had you taken the time to read and use the links on page 1 you would have found out who ECN is.

😭😭😭 I just had them send me the same text and I sent them back a picture of their neighborhood. Not only did they have the wrong name but really are amateurs. I like entertaining scammers and wasting their time

That was a huge mistake.

I've received the same calls/messages for the last 3 to 4 days to call them back.  Then I had a different person (Megan) say to call (773) 572-5020 and not to dismiss this call as she was starting the paperwork.  First, it's getting out of hand and yes it's a scary thing.  My phone keeps coming up with scam likely - why can't they just leave honest hard working people alone.

I get a text but the number is from 771 203 8497 to call 210 441 7894 about a balance that is overdue. No other information given.

Scam account recovery

I got the same as others.  My name is not the one listed.  I've had this number for 12 years.  I called the number, this is not the person you are seeking.  They hung up.  I called back, got voice mail.  In the past, I got calls looking for the same person.  I wanted them to get my number off their list.
