bad call - it is not legitimate; hang up

I received this call at work today.   Call came in as "unavailable" and Karen of UPS first clarified this call was being recorded.   She was asking all kinds of questions but the information on our company was well over 10 years old and we deal with UPS daily.     Made me feel very uneasy so I did not answer her questions.

UPS gluey sales people, they never go away

This is a legit number. The UPS guy called and was asking about how my service was going and if there was anything they could help with. I suggested they could negotiate the rate of overnight envelopes for our company. By the end of the call I had a contract and negotiate the rate down 18% from what we were paying.

I just got a call from this number. The caller wanted detailed information about our business and, specifically, what we ship via UPS. What kinds of parts, new or used, and I just told him "we ship parts" and could I help him with anything else. Why would UPS care what we were shipping enough to employ someone to make calls about it?
There is no way I am giving detailed information to anyone who randomly calls and wants it.

Caller claimed to be with UPS. She had my UPS account number that is rarely used. She said she did not see an email address associated with the account. That is suspicious. She also ask what I ship - this may be a legitimate question because it can impact insurance and method of shipment. I'm not positive this is UPS though.

This is NOT a legitimate UPS call.  I agree that this is at best some 3rd party service trying to drum up business for UPS and at worse some kind of information clearing house.  However, this was NOT our legitimate account manager.

First of all, when UPS calls it says "UPS" on the caller ID. When "Michael Jimenez" from "Unavailable" called he asked for "the person in charge of shipping".  We do not volunteer any information over the phone to unknown callers so I asked him the nature of his call.  He gave me the "Your New Account Manager" spiel yet could not name 1 actual person on the account.  NOT ONE.  And let me tell you, he went through a list of over SIX people.

When I questioned how he could be our account manager and not know even one of the names on the account (one of which is actually mine), he sounded embarrassed but persisted in his ruse.  At the end, I told him I would take down his info and follow up with him.  Searching on the number, I found this site.

We have a large UPS account including automatic DAILY in office pick up service.  There have been the same contacts on our legitimate account for a couple of years now.  Some of these vendors and info jockeys who call can be very convincing.  Don't give out your information to these people unless you want to end up on a data list somewhere (best case).

UPS Account Representative callback number

Man called from this number, claimed to be XX with UPS, sounded like he needed a drug test, or couldn't pass one.

Just received a phone call from a man identifying himself as Neil with UPS regarding who we use for shipping. After my coworker told him we have a company that we use and hung up the phone, he immediately called back. When I answered he said his name and that he was with UPS and he didn't appreciate being hung up on. After several dead end questions about our UPS account I asked him what the purpose of the call was. He told me that he was trying to find out who we use for shipping and then he proceeded to tell me that I needed to be more polite. I told him that he needed to be more polite and to have a nice day, before hanging up the phone. It's a spam call, hang up on him.

Seems like the scammers have gotten back to using this number. It's been reported for years on numerous sites. Had call today. Not in my contacts so I didn't answer. No message left. I blocked it.

Called the office twice and wanted information on my UPS account. After asking why they didn't have this information already...he stated that I can find the information on the invoice that I get and then actually asked me if I knew what an invoice was?? Very rude when I asked questions on why he is asking me what I ship. He finally hung up after he said that I sounded busy. I asked for him to send his contact information to my email on file with UPS.

Medical device telemarketing

Still claiming to be with UPS (asked for a different person - not me). A long message about how this caller now "owns" the UPS account associated with this business (it's not a business phone) and needs a call back to make sure the needs are all aligned. yada yada yada

UPS customer service. My phone incorrectly tagged the call as spam.

Caller ID said "ups" (note: lower case).  If he's supposed to be our local office UPS rep, why would he have a contact name of someone who died over 20 years ago, and why wouldn't he have a local number for us?  Definitely suspicious.
