Feb 05, 2009, 3:47pm-3:50pm CST:  What seemed to be a recorded voice said she was "Rachel" from "card services" and for me to "press 9" to find how to reduce my credit card interest rate.  Being on the "do not call" list, I was always told to get as much info as possible, so I pressed 9.  A real person calling herself "Carrie" asked me my name the very first thing.  I questioned as to excactly which credit card service she represented.  She generalized that she was doing an "annual review of Visa and Master Card holders with excellent payment histories. but did not name my card service bank.  She then asked me if my interest rate was over 10 percent, I replied "no", and she repeated the question, after which she said "oh, you should not have been referred to this review.  We will be sending you a letter, however, stating that should your interest rate exceed 10 percent anytime in the future, I can call them."  When I again questioned as to which exact card service bank she represented, she ended the call, politely, but abruptly.

I called my local Police Dispatch but the man who answered the phone said it was of no use to file a report, that he had rec'd no other complaints.  Then, from my perception of being patronizing, he said "Oh, well, I GUESS I can write it down".....I told him not to bother himself with it.  I thought we were supposed to report things of this nature as a beware FYI to others.

Repeated calls from this number. Caller ID lists: NEW YORK ; rings twice and hangup. If I pick up in time- no-one there..  

Figger is some form of "annoyance dialler", programmed to annoy people.

I'm dropping this line shortly w/no forwarding number. This should eliminate these calls- there are other programmed diallers coming to my number w/similar results.

No sense paying for a landline that has become a magnet for such calls. So far cells and other line are clean!
