I received a call from a Middle-Eastern man, telling me he will help me fix the problem on my PC and that my PC has a virus. He said his company was PC Online Solutions.  I said 'no thank you' and hung up.

I have been getting many calls from these people for over a year now. Most of the time it is a Middle Eastern sounding gentleman, but today it was a woman with a bad phone connection. Today I was told she had a report that I had a virus. Funny how I have trendmicro on my computer and we are fine. She hung up on me when I questioned her about where this report came from. I am not sure who they say the company is. PC Solutions sounds familiar. They usually say they are calling about my computer or act like they have something to do with Windows, not Microsoft.

I got a call tonight on my cell phone.  The man on the phone had such a thick accent, I had to ask him several times to repeat why he was calling (and I'm used to working with people for whom English is not their primary language).  He was very persistent, and I kept wondering why on earth would someone call me about a potential threat to my computer.  The man then said that if I got on my computer, he would walk me through some steps to help me keep my computer safe.  I told him he should not be calling me, and I told him to remove my phone number from his records.  Aie aie aie!

    Fed Up With Scammers
Just received a call from this number.  I didn't answer, nor did they leave a message.  I have worked in IT for the last 18 years, and hold a Masters degree, so I can tell you without a doubt that this is a scam.  They are trying to gain access into your computer to retrieve information.  PLEASE...do not fall for this.  If you think you have a virus, please purchase Norton, McAfee, TrendMicro, Kaspersky, etc and scan your own computer.  If you don't feel comfortable doing this, please take to a friend or even Best-Buy to do it for you.

    Fearing for the vulnerable
I to received a call from a middle eastern man with a very thick accent. Also had to ask him to repeat himself several times. He told me my computer was sending encrypted messages to his computer and it needed to be stopped. I went along with it out of curiosity he told me to go to my computer and he would walk me through the steps of stopping this. He was very very insistent until I abruptly told him he was full of sh.t and my computer is in the shop for repairs. He hung up immediately. Aside from the fact that these calls are annoying I can't help but wonder how many people get caught off guard by people like this and give access to their computer to these scam artists. The has to be a way of stopping them

Man with thick Indian Accent called asking to speak with Mr. Woo.  Advised that I was not Mr. Woo and that Mr. Woo has not been at this number.   Caller then said he would call back tomorrow.  I told him no I do not want him calling me since I am not Mr. Woo and Mr. Woo does not live here.  He then said he would keep calling back every week.  I asked him not to again.  He insisted he would keep calling me back regardless.  After having to request to speak to a supervisor repeatedly he claimed he was transferring me to a supervisor.  The same person was on the line and then a female voice was too, but she never identified herself beyond allegedly being as supervisor.  The same man did all the talking and the "supervisor" would not answer any questions nor reassure that they would stop harassing me.  I advised if they do not stop calling I would take legal action and the man said I cannot do that.  When I asked for his name and the name of his company he disconnected the call.

I  also received a call similar to the posts above.  The man wanted me to get on my computer so that he could fix a virus.  I said I had a virus program and absolutely would not get on my computer.  I am sure that he actually wants to connect to my computer to access information on it, or put a file in my computer that would give them access, or actually put in a virus, so that you would have to pay him to remove it.

He called back three times, so he is very persistant.

Just received a call from this same company. Woman speaking very unclear English. Kept telling me my computer received bad files and was having issues with internet, google and facebook. I told her we do not facebook and if she could once again provide me with her company name I would contact the BBB to verify and then call her back, needless to say the line went dead right away! Was National something.... sorry her speaking was terrible!

Receive call today. People sounds middle eastern. Stated he could help with virus on my computer. Questioned him and he stated he was from Online Solutions for all windows computer to help with this virus. He also stated he was calling from California, but this number not from there. He stopped conversation and hung up. Area code "212" is from New York, but even they do not use "000" for phone numbers. There is an Online Solution in Serbia (formal Yugoslavia); interesting. Tried calling number and it's not a good number.

    Happened to me too
    Caller type: SCAM

I just got a call from a man with a seemingly think Indian accent.  He told me my computer had many viruses and he was going to help me remove them.  I knew it was a scam, but I was curious as to what he was up to so I played along.  He'd tell me to click on this and that, then asked what the computer said.  I didn't do anything he said, but lied and replied that my computer had just frozen up.  He said it was because of all the viruses I had on my computer.  I asked for his name and number so I could call him back, but he wouldn't give me that information and finally after I kept asking he hung up.  I'm putting a nice loud whistle by my phone in case he calls back.  I'll give him a real earful if he does!

Happen to me too replies to homeskool_mom
You might want to consider buying a loud whistle or an air horn and give it a nice big blast every time they call.  That might deter them from calling again!

Sarcastic little turd.  All other messages here resonate with my experience.  Thick Eastern accent, bad connection, persistent pitch, and rude manner. Same nonsense about computer viruses. I told him plainly and firmly to put me on his Do Not Call list.  I asked him to say Yes or No if he understood.  He then said he didn't understand English, and asked me to say it in Spanish. Fancies himself a comedian in addition to being a scam artist.  I like the air horn idea.

I just got off the phone having the same experiences listed above...but my call went a little further, After refusing to turn on my computer for several minutes, and being passed to 3 different people, I decided to play along. He asked me to click on Start, Right click on Computer, click on Management. Then Click "yes" to continue (for permission), Then click on Event Viewer, WIndows Log. Then he directed me to the middle of the page to scroll down and count the number of "Errors". I counted to 45 errors and stopped, although there were more. Then he explained that we needed to fix these software errors on my system. He said he was going to connect me to the technical dept so a tech could connect to my computer to walk me thru deleting them. Um, I dont think so! I refused. So to try to convince me, he told me that when you buy a computer, you fill out the registration with your information, and he could prove that he had the number assigned to my file and computer. He then instructed me to hold ctrl/windows button/and push the letter R. I again refused. (not sure what that would do, maybe open a connection for them?) I told him I thought this was a scam (for the 4th time) and I wasnt going to allow anyone access to my personal files. Then he asked if I had a mobile phone. Yes, I replied. He directed me to call 1-510-374-4990 while he waited, so after verification we could continue. I refused. He said he would call me tomorrow - oh joy... His name was Ricky (yeah right) and the company he supposedly represented was National Computer Maintenience Department. He said they were based out of CA, I asked why then is the number you're calling from come up on the caller ID as NY. He said they were the call center. That they have local technicians in all towns. I said I dont need your services, I am protected by Norton Antivirus. He then said that obviously that isnt working because of all the errors we found. Unbelievable! I hope people dont willingly give up their info. At one point, he told me that he can guarentee he wasnt a scam, because he lives in the US and understands my curosity because he, himself recieves 20-30 calls per day trying to scam him. WHAT A JOKE!

8:00 a.m. EST on a Saturday morning.  What?  I answered my cell phone and said "hello" twice, then they disconnected the call.  I also had the same experience last evening with 866-948-0585 which also seems to be a scam phone number.  Is nothing sacred in this world?

We recieved a phone call at 6:30am telling us we are having the same experiences listed above, and the caller went a little further, he wanted us to turn on our computer. That's when we ended the call. They made it sound official by telling us my name and address. I looked up the phone number 1 212 000-9999 and found this blog, this needs to stop ASAP.

When I called the number back it said "we are unable to call this number, and to hang up and try again", which I did and recieved the same message. Once again this needs to stop ASAP.
