you can check on any official US government website - they do not contact any applicants via phone or email, so you're right about not holding your breath as it is most probably scam.

Hey all, My mom had answered the phone and they are looking for me, when my mom asked whats it regarding they didnt say anything. Just wanted to know when I would be back.

They have called several times. Ausfir.org not sure if they have an office in Manhattan, NY but their site seems to based completely in AU therefore most likely a scam.

I have the same problem as all of u here..I applied for Visa at that organization. And after thet we have been receiving calls form that nr. But we never pick up. Do u have any idea if u pick up if they can make some costs for u (on your phone bill) or something?

Hope we will solve it and get Australian visa on legal way in their ambasy and not at some ....rather dont say.

I got this call in Germany. This is from a "scam&quo t; company called USAFIS. They charge you for joining the Diversity Lottery Program. For a fee they fill out your application and send it, and claim to give you a higher chance of winning a greencard, when in fact this is completely free and impossible to get a higher chance of winning in.
The employees in this company are VERY convincing and friendly. Do NOT give them your creditcard number, they WILL charge you!

Hello! I live in Russia. Cute woman's voice in good English offered to help me get a visa to Australia with the number 12126609970. This is a scam. Serious organizations protect their phone numbers. For example: calls USAFIS of Houston are not defined in the phone.

I live in uk and I received a call from this number 0012126609970. a woman said she is from Australian Visa, about an application or something. I've never applied for a visa ! strange anyway!

I just spoke to a man and later a women from the same number. Same stuff. I recently used a website about migrating to Australia and they are offering to help. The amount of money they are asking and the way they are asking sounds a little tricky for me... So I guess this might be a little fishy... so be very smart when handling these kind of stuff! cheers

Hi, I have a lost call from this number. Yesterday I filled the form to apply to an australian visa with AUSFIS.org. But they wanted to charge me even before they did anything else, so I stopped with the process and will do nothing further with them.

Just googled the number and here I am. Thank you for posting your experiences. It helped me a lot. Won't go ahead with these company.
