- nick replies to LTHam| 2 repliesmy normal reply to any of these callers is "Hello, F U". it seems to work for me
- GuitarSlinger replies to scamps| 5 repliesActually you should report them to the FCC first and then the FTC with your State's attorney general as a last resort .
ESPECIALLY if the call is abusive or in any way sexual as the one woman here received - GuitarSlingerIts obvious the calls are fake as well as the phone number as that's the most exclusive Manhattan area code ( 212) you can have , and I'll guarantee you NO phone solicitor for any company can afford an address in that area

- gazelder replies to Avenging AngelUnfortunately in the Commonwealth of Virginia reporting this type of call to the Attorney General's office is a JOKE! Maybe he is too busy running for Governor. The AG's office shunts the call to the Department of Agriculture which is not only clue-less but powerless. If you expect an AG's office to do anything then perhaps you'd like to buy a bridge that is near Brooklyn?
There has been a bill in the US Senate for years trying to just get "Truth on your Caller ID" (they'd have to show their real identity) and the Senate is too busy doing nothing to even pass that.
We the victims of these intrusions are powerless because our politicians and elected officials don't care. And even posting on a site like these does nothing to stop the problem. Nothing. - Call-It-Back replies to GeraldWhen you call it, it's MovieFone. So they're spoofing the number. Which is easy to do through gateways. The technology allows people to call from overseas masking a local number, or, as in this case, a legitimate business. Hate to say it, but those of us who have caller ID? Just don't answer. And if you have call block on your phone, use it.
- GinaIt starts out... The FBI reports there is a home invasion... I just hang up!

My story is pretty much the same, they call and don't leave a message. They call and if I am at home and answer there is a recording that says all reps are busy now. Sometimes if I answer, there is a recording that says I can lower my credit card rates. I have spoken to reps who are jerks, and I am putting that nicely. They hang up on me!!!!! They should not be able to call people like this. So much for the no call list.
#1 I don't want to get these calls
#2 I am debt free- Caller: ???????????????????????????????
- JakelyWe keep getting these calls and I finally got them to put us on their DO Not Call list. Interesting they wanted my 80 year old husband for college!
- Debbie PressleyI live in Indian Trail NC and this [***] has got to stop, I work nights and weekend leaving my daughter to fin for herself. What can a sixteen year old girl do that most will not do when their parents are not at home. If anyone can tell me what to do about this crap call me at 704 681 2224. I am pissed to high Heaven and would like to know how to stop this crap now.
- Caller: don't know
- E'LaraContinuing intermittent calls from this number must stop.
- Caller: NO NAME
- LiangI received calls from this number several times. I called this number, and its recording identified itself as Movie Phone, but I doubt it was the actual caller who used that company's number to call me. So far, nothing seems able to eliminate these harassing calls as long as telephone companies allow people fake their true caller identity and our government is too busy doing other things. There are a few things I tried that satisfied myself: (1) After they called my cell phone, I stored their numbers in my contact list as "Scam1", "Scam2", etc., and when they called again, my cell phone displays those names on my screen and I simply press the [Send] button to connect and immediately press the [End] button to disconnect, and eventually the calls gets less frequent. (2) My home phone only displays caller IDs from the caller, so I cannot do the same but I memorized a few of those numbers and when they called me, I just vent my anger to the poor guy on the other end and then hung him up. I sometimes feel sorry for those guys afterwards - they might just tried to do their job as were told by their bosses to earn a living and they might not deserve to be abused. :)

- maryI got call from this number today.
- katydadethey called today, automated message said they would install a security system in my house if i let them place a sign in my yard. Press 9 to be on do not call press 1 to sign up. I pressed 1 because it didn't say what the company name was. The operator who answered identified them as "National Safe Security" so when I repeated the company name to her to make certain I had it correct she said "No, we are General Electric" and then she hung up on me. Definitely scammers of some sort.
- Caller: National Safe Security
- Call type: Telemarketer
- RonThese guys called me and tried to get me to turn on my computer to give them some number, and let them take over my screen. I told the guy (who I could barely understand) that I wasn't turning it on for anyone that called me out of the blue claiming to work for Microsoft. I told him I would live with any error messages, and this guy tells me that my computer would crash within the next few days if I don't get it fixed. THEN, he wants to send a tech out to my place to fix it! This is a brand new computer... under warranty! Not even a month old!
Anyhow... this time he claims to work for "ONLINE TECHBITE`` under licence from "MICROSOFT"! Watch out folks... this guy doesn't want to take NO for an answer!
Tell him to GO TO HELL!- Caller: ONLINE TECHBITE
- Call type: Telemarketer
- michael zaleskiI've been getting silent calls (in my absence) from this number 3-4 times a day.
I believe they have to do with paid movie showings on TV.
When I call the number, in NYC, my calls are unanswered.
I would like to contact the subscribers and arrange an umbrella treatment for them. Following this treatment they would never place a frivolous call again.- Caller: unknown
- RuppertQ replies to Avenging Angel| 2 repliesContacting the Attorney General generally does no good. In addition to the phone number, they also want caller name but, of course, this comes in as "Unknown Name." The Do-Not-Call thing has few teeth and I've seen nothing that would indicate that any effort is taken to remedy the problem.
Also, expect NOTHING from the phone company. I've complained repeatedly that, for all we know, the caller could be calling to see anyone is at home or, if just my wife or daughter, who might be with them. They don't care and will offer nothing to block the call. I suppose that they have not found a way to charge for it. Or, on the other hand, they could possibly be making good money off of the call originator.
When the politicians left political calls out of the do-not-call registry, it left things open for harassment, especially during the election season. It's much the same as their other shenanigans....insider trading, lobby money, special interests, etc. We should never, ever, ever be surprised.
