Male caller represented himself as an agent of Microsoft who was contacting me to correct malware issues that have been automatically reported to them by my computer.  I advised him that at this point he was conducting interstate fraud via telephone which is a federal offense.  I then heard the familiar "dial tone".

I did not even get to the point where I told him that I do not use Microsoft products.  I asked him what version did he thing I was using....  dial tone.....

beware, or be aware....

Got a call from 212-777-8546 - a very bad connection, a person speaking in a heavy Indian (Asian) accent, saying he was from "windows authorized tech support calling to tell me about a serious problem with my computer and could I just go switch is on so he could show me the problem..." Sounded fishy, of course, and I wondered if the caller was deliberately trying to sound like he was calling from an overseas, outsourced tech help center - have been working with computers for a long time, have heard many stories about Windows crashing, but have never heard of anyone from Microsoft calling ahead of time to warn anyone of a problem.  Asked a few questions, then said this was a bad time so please give me a number at which I can call you back when I have time to deal with this...and he was gone.  Called the number back - got the message that it was "disconnected...no further information." Definitely not a legit call.
