Again, (This is now my 5th call from gds) I received a phone call from "Bill Margerson" of the Mayo Clinic. He had a voice mail message from my company and was told to call the CEO but he couldn't quite catch the name!! I had a feeling it was GDS - came up as out of area - but gave him the name of our CEO any way.  True to form, the Mayo Clinic"office" number he gave me was bogus - and I received a call later in the day from GDS (I asked if it was GDS and she said yes)  from a woman who HAD TO SPEAK WITH OUR CEO. I informed her that I have asked the company 3 times to be on their do not call list, we were not interested, and explained how we had been scammed 4 times before - always a different name and company - which upon investigation, the alleged client they had for us had never heard of our company or products, the phone numbers didn't work, etc.How do you get them to stop??????

    Brad - Another GDS Victim
I signed an advertising contract with GDS for a new website they recently launched. GDS had aggressive account receivable agents who wanted their money sooner than we had agreed to and they did not provide me with log-in credentials until after the campaign had begun - this prevented me from being able to approve any of my ad space.  Once I was able to log in I immediately saw that everything was all wrong. I made every reasonable effort work with them but ultimately requested a full refund. Not only was that request denied, but they terminated my log in credentials and told me to sue them if I wanted to re-cover my money. I would HIGHLY recommend that NOONE do business with GDS International, Financial Services Technology, MeetTheBoss.com or any of its other affiliates. They lie, cheat and steal without moral bound and conveniently hide behind the veil of doing business in the UK. BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE!

Here is a quick update. The Manhattan District Attorney's Office is VERY interested in any credible GDS International scams. I know this because I just got off the phone with them and then provided them with all of my evidence against GDS (i.e. emails, contracts, screenshots, etc.). I would encourage ANYONE with ANY issues that are credible to contact the Manhattan District Attorneys Office at 212-335-8900. The case number to complain is 22287. The ADA assigned to this case is Ms. Francois. She is very helpful.

I worked at GDS for a year.  I learned some of the most useful things a salesperson can learn- then I quit.  I knew too much of what was going on at this place, and I did not want to be a part of it any longer.

This product is awful, the tactics used are unethical, and most of all this company takes advantage of young graduates looking to have a sales career.  Certainly, one can make a LOT of money here...what other publishing firm do you know of that pays upwards of 15% commissions??  Why do you think they can pay 15%???  IT ALL IS [***]!!  I have never come across another place where you can bring in 300k in revenue, and take home 100k.

Also, I am pretty sure that making up contributors and analysts is wrong.  Every single day all over the office people are becoming experts at adobe, by customizing the information sent out to prospects.

to anyone company that got sold by GDS....

these guys are very good at what they do..some are exceptional actually, however, guess what??  YOU DONT HAVE TO PAY THEM A DIME!!!  they have no lawyers working for them...its the salespersons responsibility to track down people who dont pay...so dont pay them after you recieve a "semi hardback publication" and dont see the right people or right companies.

after almost 2 years i can recite this pitch word for word...amazing

lots of the sales people there use an AKA...it has been about 1.5 years since i left but FYI...

valerie goldstein = kim sun....her real name is Kim...no reason to use an alias other than protecting herself.

i sat next to Rob Davis for a year...he is the sales director...he repeatedly told people that you can say or do anything to get a deal.

I was there for a week. replies to worked with GDS for 1 year
I was there for a week.  I thought I had got the job, but they fired me at the end of training without any kind of warning and paid me 150.00 for a full week of training.  During my short time there we all had to yell out / recite this extremely long sales pitch.  It was pages and pages long.  The place is a huge frathouse and I did see people changing their names there when they would get on the phone with clients.  I knew something was shady from day one.  You would honestly think that they are trading stocks there with the whole vibe of the office.  I have never seen anything with such a shady vibe in my life.

OH, and before I left they informed us that all employees are required to go to the bar at the end of every Friday.  Drinking was "optional."

They rent out mansions in the Pocono Mountains, they rented a yacht and paraded it around the island of Manhattan, and they rented out The Mansion for their last Christmas party.  They definitely flaunt the money to the young employees.

    Katie,

The bottom line is you just dont sell advertising like this. Why do you think they wont let you call go  an Agency of Record for a big client? The agency would run a report on circulation and find out that most of these publications are fraudulent.

    The Craven brothers are scum!

    Well said Bex.

I have no problem knowingly ripping my clients off, I lie cheat and scam my way so that I can make a good living.

Who cares if we don't send out the mags. If these companies are too dumb giving their money away then who am I to say no.

Lets face it you are only a criminal if you get caught, right?

    I love it here.......

TO everyone posting on this site,

Look the bottom line is you dont sell advertising through C Level Execs. You sell it through agencies.Once and a while it's great to get a direct client meeting. I went through the training about 3 years ago and was on the floor for 2 days. I actually had a friend who worked at an agency on an account i was supposed to call. I told my manager or whatever you want to call him that i was going to call my friend at Universal Mccann and he flipped out. Saying we never call on agencies. Roadblock right there! I asked him why and then I said "these publications arent really audited are they?" He gave me a dirty look and said maybe you should work somewhere else. Picked up my things and walked out the door.

To any grads out there who want to be in Ad Sales: You are much better off going to a legit company to be a Sales Planner for a few years and learn the ropes. I am 28 and made over 300k last year in the digital online space calling on Agencies. You will never make that at GDS or have a credible career.

PS. Is Tak or Rudy still there? What jokes those guys were!
