got a message from some bozo w/ an Indian accent who says he is with the Treasury Department Legal something division (couldn't understand) saying to call him back immediately for an "issue". googled the phone # and it is not a govt. # (no surprise). this clown had the audacity to call me again the next day but this time I answered, said I know you're a scam artist, that I have reported him to authorities and hung up. never heard from him again.

The same Indian guy called me today. Said he was with the Immigration Division of the Treasury Dept.  He said that when I call back, I should have my lawyer with me, or have my lawyer call him directly. I could barely understand him. Very faint, and very thick accent. I have taken no action. Maybe because I have a Hispanic last name, he thinks I am an illegal!

I received the same call just now.  Stated he was with the US Treasury.  Stating mail was sent and I never replied.  Stating I needed to return the call to Jason Brown (at the same number).  So many red flags on this.

nope he calls white people too.. I got the same call. It sounds totally like a scam. I think he said god bless you at the end of the call. Totally unprofessional. If he worked there his message would be different

Yep! I got a phone call today. This was the second time they've called me (although I wasn't home so they left a message on my phone). The first time was about a month ago and they called three times. Told me I had filed my 2009 income tax return incorrectly and I could be going to jail! Told me they had tried to serve me papers, but I wasn't home. I was told  not to tell anyone about the call and I shouldn't contact an attorney!  It's too bad for them that my Mother works for a CPA office and knew this was a scam. It still shook me up for a little while though. I hope someone puts a stop to people like this. I filed a complaint today. If you go on the IRS website it states right there about telephone scams!

My sister received a call just now, I search this number 213-437-6844, and I found out that there are many people they bothered. I we got there names  as John Marshall and John Lewis as they claimed they are IRS agents. Be aware people. Attention IRS.....these people are using your department.
We reported this incident today to the authorities.

Got the same call... Even threatened me that the cops will be picking me up in 3 hours since I didn't want too hear their pitch.  Can't believe these dishonest people.

Yep- just got a call.... They asked for my husband. Said it was a confidential matter but he has a 'law enforcement action' pending against him. Claimed to be the US treasury department.  

Got a call from the same number on Friday -- legal affairs, Department of the Treasury.  I asked where their office was located.  He said 300 N. Los Angeles Street, LA 90012.  The guy I spoke with sounded Asian to me, however.  Said there were three criminal charges against me for failing to respond to their mailings, tax evasion, blah, blah, blah.  He asked for the number for my attorney.  Said if I didn't comply quickly I could face up to six months in jail.  When I told him this didn't make sense, he hung up on me.
