Received a call from this number. Caller ID showed "Unknown name". The person stated they were from VAR Magazine renewing a subscription. They already had the information they were asking for, they were updating it. I did not supply them will additional info EXCEPT for the color of my eyes. The person stated that question had something to do with them being audited?! When I dialed back, I received a busy signal.

I received a call from this number. Could not find any information.

213 area code is LA.

I suspect it is a telemarketer since they didn't let it ring long enough to go to VM.

This number has called my cell twice in the past few days. No message.

This number has also called my cell phone two or three times this week.  I have let it go to VM but no message is ever left...

This is VAR Business Magazine (parent company is CMP Media, crn.com) calling to renew a free magazine subscription.  It's quite possible that the company doing the actual calling is a third-party contracting firm.

They called me yesterday, I picked up. They ID'd themselves, and I asked them to call me back next week.

I have received about 8 calls over the last 2 weeks from this number. I only answer numbers I recognize. They never leave a message.

Update on 11-Jul.

Have also been called now every business day since Tue 11 Jul.

I redialled the number and was disconnected after one ring before any one answered.

I will answer it next time.

I received a very rude phone call with this caller ID on my cell phone, while at work. The person (a man) was literaly yelling "what's up" at me several times before I hung up. Then the same number called in 2 or 3 more times, which i did not pick up. They never left a message of course. This was sort of frightening that someone so angry had my phone number and kept calling back. Then he called again today (did not answer)... Freaks...

Seems this number has been calling me as well at work.

I did answer next time they called and it was VAR Business Magazine requesting a subscription renewal. I said I really didn't read it, but the man insisted (!?) so I did. Maybe I can unsubscribe online.

Received call at 3:02pm 7/19.  Did not pick-up. No vmail.

I keep getting these calls and googled the area code.  Was surprised to see the whole number was in the third search result... I will never order a magazine from VAR.

I have been getting calls every day or two from this number as well.  Like others, I don't bother to pick up and they don't leave a voice mail.

Well, this is going to sound interesting...I got several calls from this number while I was in Asia last week and for evident rea$sons I din't pick up, in addition that I rarely pick up calls from numbers I don't know. But I was curious after seeing how insistent this person was and therefore decided to google the number and see if I could get some idea who that might be. I never got a voice mail from those calls. In any case, that is how I ended up coming to this page and learning about the infamous 213-537-1383.

I sort of put it in the back of my head and surprise! As soon as I got back, I got a call again and decided to pick up (OK, out of curiosity). I wanted to see what story I would get. Maybe the magazine one?

Well, this guy identified himself as working for a scientific company related to the work I do and like if that was not enough he asked for my boss!!! (I believe he thought he was calling him and not my number). He referred to him by first and last name!!

The not-so-nice part is that first of all, I am a scientist working in the line of work he mentioned in his call so whomever did this, did some research. Secondly, how the hell he got my boss' complete name???

I ended up telling him he should call the receptioninst and get my boss' number. He asked for the number and I told him that I have a brain after all. He either didn't understand or he was pissed, but he just hung up.

they were pretty much regular - every day around the same time (5pm EST).  must be busy herding people to one of them conferences :)

Caller left a "message" that was nothing but a full minute of background noise.

Have goten 2 calls per day on my personal wireless phone for the past week from this number. No messages are left.

These people call me at work at least twice a day and I have no idea how they got my work phone number.  When I attempt to call back, it's a fast, busy signal.

This number has called me 4 or 5 times a day for the past two weeks.  I do not answer numbers that I do not recognize. How do you get them to stop?
