- TpaFL| 1 replyReceived call from "Tracey" stating she was with copier company and wanted to verify model # of copier. I've received calls like this before--one just a few weeks ago (different #). Same story so I'm familiar with the tactics. I asked if I could call her back. She said she can't receive any incoming calls, and she'd wait while I got the information. I then said that I needed to verify the name of the company she was with. I suddenly lost the call (surprise, surprise!)
Since this number was not listed here yet, I looked at similar #s (213-537-1905, 213-537-1910) and all reported the same type of call, so I'm sure these are probably all from the same place.
I did trying calling the number back, but it never went anywhere--no ringing, busy signal--just dead air. Guess she was right that she can't receive incoming calls! - jessI work at a car dealership and just recieved a call from this number. They called for the service department and they called 4 times. The guy asked for my name and I told him the wrong name becasue he sounded creepy, then he started talking sexual to me!!!
- Logghe Stamping CompanyInitial phone call asking for model number of copier, we asked to be put on the do not call list.
After this call we received honestly about 20 harassing phone call afterward from the same number which included hitting numbers, mocking, etc.- Caller: didn't say

- KSI just got two phone calls from this number - same guy - within 5 minutes of each other. The man said he was calling from "Customer Service" and they were updating their records. He wanted to know the model of my copier. I'm also familiar with these tactics, so in the first call I simply said "I don't have a copier" to which he replied "oh" and the call ended. In the second call I said "You just called me five minutes ago and I told you I don't have a copier." Again he said "oh" and there was a loud static noise and the call was gone.
I've dealt with these types of calls for years in my professional career. These people are fishing for information to try to sell you products - I never give the any information.- Caller: "Customer Service"

- Education OnlyJust received a call from "Tracy" saying that she wanted to update our records, she needed the copier model # that is located right above...( I knew about the scam) I told her, {"Traci, since we have had issues in the past, why don't you fax the information to the number you have listed...) She then hung up. Five seconds later, she called back, (this time I answered the phone without my name or business) and she said, "who am I speaking with?" I said, "you just called..." She quickly hung up on me again....be careful....I quickly sent an email to co-workers about what happened, and within 5 minutes all the others emailed that they had received this same call from "traci" one of the others actually spoke to a "manager" and when he asked them some questions, he was hung up on, while the other was told that they were from RICOH and that prices were going up, and that a notice was sent out 3 months ago, and if they acted now....they said no.
- Technology Dept-TX replies to TpaFLYep. I have received a call everyday this week March 9-12; the caller calling himself Jim Nelson-updating information for a copier.... these folks are 'goofy' do they think this is our first rodeo?
- TanReceived a call at 2:46p today. She said she was with customer service and needed our copier info. I asked her "what company she was with?", she immediately ended the call.I called the number back, it doesn't ring, beeps twice and that's it.
- clarkcomputerjust got the same call transferred to me (help desk) from the receptionist, or where you end up if you press 0. i could hear the call center noise in the background. female caller asked for the model number of the copier. we lease our copiers (multi-function machines) from one company and i could tell this wasn't one of there reps. i asked where she was calling from. she named my company. i said, yes this is that company, but where are you calling FROM. hung-up. that's not suspicious at all!!

- Annoyed In SeattleCalled 2 times within 60 minutes, first a female then a male, I don't recall their names because I really didn't care enough. They are obviously fishing for info and hang up as soon as you ask them for their company name. They state they are with the Customer Service department for my copier and want the model number.
Reminds me of the old social engineering days from my misspent youth. ;p

- Heard Much WorseI got a call from this place today. They asked me to give them the make and model number of my copier so that they could quote me prices on copier toner. Their prices were fairly competetive but I'm not allowed to order except from the place we bought our copier. When I told the guy this he said thanks anyhow and hung up.
- jpcGot a call from the same number 213.537-1909
Asked for coppier information and then when I said we don't have a copier hung up.
I contacted T-Cast who is their service provider to report fraudulent activity on that number - they said they would remove them from the switch?

- ReceptionistJust received a call from 213-537-1909, asking for the counter number off of the office copier. As soon as I told them we wouldn't provide that information, the call disconnected. The caller ID appeared as 'California'
- Caller: copier company
- NancyJust received the same phone call - missed the guy's name, tho. My throat was a little scratchy - when I answered him and told him I was not giving him any information regarding our copiers, he started mocking my voice, asking 'Is this lkfjkl?" in a really stupid imitation of a froggy throat. How stupid are these people that they think someone is going to take them for a 'legitimate' sales organization?
From the looks of these comments, this has been going on for quite a while. Hopefully they will be caught at some point. I work in Corrections, so it would be really nice if they were caught & taught a lesson.- Caller: unknown
- Johnwhen they call about copiers, they are looking for information. What they are trying to do is find someone who does not know how the toner is ordered (it is typically free with a copier contract). Then they will get your name (NEVER GIVE THEM YOUR NAME), so they can send you toner and bill you for thousands. The hope is that the company they send it to is so large that they will pay the massive bill and never notice they got scammed.
- David FosterJust received a call from 213-537-1909, asking for the serial number off of the office copier. As soon as I told them we wouldn't provide that information, the call disconnected.
- Linda SmithI received a call from Amy today from this # These people are frauds and scam people with toner orders. I know I work for a copier retail store and they called me!!!!!!!!!!!
- Chuck in MassI get a call from these people 2-3 times a week per branch (people forward them to me) They try and sell you toners and supplies for printers and copiers by offering you a "free toner" however you will never get that toner. You will however start getting more calls from other companies trying to sell you printers, computers, and other business technology. I consider it a scam and if not for the fact we have a contract with Lexmark and RICOH for our leased machines they would actually stay on the phone with me and not hang up as soon as I ask about it.
