- Judith replies to CarolThank you Carol for taking the time to type out the exact same recorded message I received.
- brad| 1 replyJust returned a message to the same number, foreign accent, possibly Indian or Pakistani, said name was Roy Miller, I believe. He stated my name and city and said that IRS had filed a lawsuit and I told him that that's not true and that I am good with the IRS and he said something like, "if you say so"... and hung up. I then Googled the number and came upon this. Don't fall for it folks... FBI should go get these folks before someone falls for it...
- Caller: California
- Sheriff's EmployeeWhen I get these kind of calls, I love to call them back and mess with them. Such as...."What? I can't understand you. Can you please repeat that? Ok, I am back now...I had to put the baby down. (I have no children.) Yes, I have a lawyer. (The guy almost panicked when I said that! He said..."You do?") Speak louder please....I am hard of hearing. Where shall I meet you to give you the money owed? (Unfortunately they never go for that, which is too bad because it would be a hoot to arrest them!) Yeah...I had one guy with a very thick Pakistani accent extremely upset by the time I hung up on him. He was screaming at me by the time we hung up because I was laughing very loudly at him and his claims of Sheriff's being on their way to my home!

- Helen replies to CarolI received the exact message, recorded on my answering machine. I thought about it and listened to it three times and wondered why they did not use my name.
Thanks for the Internet we can't be fooled as easily as before.
Thank you Carol for entering your message that completely confirmed for me the scam
... - Dmgm234I also received the same call exactly as Carol in a previous post noted. Two days later I received another callfrom a different phone number (312-940-6951). It was the same recorded message in a males voice. Supposedly this is my FINAL warning. Whatev. I'm blocking the numbers and not calling them back. If it were legit and they wanted to "warn" me the IRS would've easily have found my home address.

- NO Saints GirlReceived a call this morning from this number and I immediately knew it was a SCAM because the IRS does not make Robo calls! This was the message..."This is your final notice from the IRS, the nature and purpose of this call is to inform you that we have received a legal petition notice concerning a tax fraud against you. This is IRS Agent Judith Smith. Before the matter goes to the Federal Claims Court House or BEFORE YOU GET ARRESTED, please call immediately on our hotline division number, that is, 1-213-674-4949 make sure you call us as soon as possible."
So, I called the number and told them I was not going to fall for their scam and they said "F---You!, F---You!, F---You!" and hung up! Guess I hit a nerve! LOL!!! I'm reporting this immediately to the FBI because I know if my elderly Mother would receive a call like this, she would fall for it!- Caller: Scam Co. Posing as IRS Collections
- Bianchi| 1 reply213-674-4949 - apparently there is a tax claim against me and if I do not call in a hurry I will go to jail. Can we stop these leeches from calling people or not?

- Monica replies to scott tThanks for the info on the web site. I received a call from a "Judy Smith" at the above mentioned number, and a message was left on my answering machine. I figured it was probably a scam, and was glad to find the Treasury reporting page, and filled out all of the info. I've heard too much about this sort of a call scaring people, and they give out info that they should NOT.
- Gigi Smith replies to CarolI received the identical message today, July 21, 2015.
- mkp replies to DWe don't owe any back taxes but who trusts the IRS. This is 2nd such call in 2 mos we've received. Thx for posting all the great details. Our call sounded identical to yours & I deleted it based on your input.
- Debbie K from LouisianaWe received a call on Monday that was on our recorder from an agent Judy ??? (the message was garbled), and it pretty much stated that if we didn't call this number, we could be arrested. I'm glad I looked this up before calling. Since they didn't use our names, I was suspicious from the beginning. They should be arrested! This has to stop!

- Nita| 1 replyReceived message today that a warrant for my arrest and law suit filed by US Treasury Dept. Returned call to 213-674-4949, said name was Kevin Peterson, Treasury Badge #10026 and asked for my name, which I told him. Came back on line with foreign accent and said I owed amount without giving anything but my name. I told this man that I had received no information from the IRS that there was an error on my 2011 and 2012 tax returns, and didn't know how I could owe the amount he said because I only get social security. He hung up on me then.

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone. US mail only. IRS does not file lawsuits. Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter. But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes. IRS has no powers of arrest. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of money. IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone. IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case. No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments. Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement. All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals. All contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail. - CWG40 replies to z3krashTotal scam. Originates in either India or Pakistan. Block and ignore. DO NOT RETURN THE CALL!
