- SouthernFlayva| 1 replyThis is a fake customer service/tech support scam. They have called me multiple times, & I answered for the first time today. The original call came from 235-484-0009. I have no idea how this shows as a phone number, because the area code doesn't even exist in the US. The claim was that my computer was sending them error messages that they wanted to fix. I hung up on the rep Alex, & he called me right back. I didn't go through with any of the stuff that he was asking me to do in order to give him access to my computer, & when I asked what IP address these "error messages" were coming from, he told me that it's just coming to their Windows customer support center directly through the software, not through an IP address. I told him that I would need to call back at a later time. He gave a callback number of 213-799-1499 instead of the 235-484-0009. He kept pushing to try & get a specific time that I would call back. I had to tell him 3 times that I didn't have a specific time (because I don't plan on calling back) before he stopped insisting. I will be sure to report both numbers.

- john m| 1 replyI received the same call and sales pitch as stated previously by others. I believe (at least in my case) they are intercepting emails being sent by my Windows OS when there is an error encountered. DO NOT engage with these thieves. This is a complete scam.

- B-Edwards replies to john mIntercepting emails is an interesting theory - might be one way the scammers get your numbers. But all they really need is to know you have an email address, that that info is just about everywhere. We see reports here from Apple users who are getting pitched by scammers pretending to be Microsoft, so at least some of the calls are going out blind.
- Paul HStarted calling on Saturday, July 7, 2018. I answered but no reply. Kept calling & calling and calling some more, every 10-20 minutes. No one on other end. I tried to call number back to identify but immediately get a busy signal. I finally got really aggravated and just unplugged my phone. Obviously a scam artist. Do not answer this call from this number: 213-799-1499

- Steve| 1 replyThey have called my wife’s number many times over the past few weeks. She usually ignores them. She answered once last week and told the heavily accented “technician” that she knows this is a scam and don’t call back. Tonight, they called 7 times between 7:30 and 8:30 (5 times at 213-799-1499 and twice at 213-799-1599) during dinner. The last time I had had enough. I answered the last call in a very pleasant voice. The caller’s accent was so thick, I had to ask them 4 times to repeat themselves. I finally heard something about “Microsoft Service” and lost it. First, we are a Mac family and haven’t used a home PC for years. Secondly, I HATE SCAMMERS. I screamed a loud “F-U mother f’ers” and hung up. I am a peaceful man, but every man has his breaking point. I had reached mine. Probably won’t end the calls, but I feel a lot better.

- Mutton replies to SteveSteve, do yourself a favor and get a call blocker if this is your landline or download a call blocking app for your cell. Most of them allow you to have a "whitelist" that allows only the callers you specify to ring through. Everything else is either sent to voicemail or simply ignored. I'm with you on this. These thieves have bilked people out of millions of dollars. Even as a ring was being arrested, people were receiving calls and coming to 800notes to report it. I have had a lot more peace since installing the call blocker. Never answer calls from numbers you don't recognize. Stay safe out there. :-)
- Very MadI have gotten a lot of these calls from many different numbers. It's the same old scam "Your computer has sent a message." That is a lie. They also steal other peoples numbers. They all are from the same guy from india. When I asked him how the weather in Vancouver he could answer. I have had calls start as early as 8:30 AM.
