Caller, Eric, called 9/27/16 from 213-814-6137 (according to caller ID; however 'PRIVATE') referring to a property closing and soliciting ADT security system, despite my number being on National Do Not Call Registry for years now.  Mad as hell!!! Reported call to FCC and Attorney General's Office. I'll seek private attorney and sue for monetary damages for these violations!

Everyone one else with similar situation should do the same.

Legitimate referral from inspector. I see that someone didn't know they were being referred. I wouldn't fault Eric for that.

Why are you here on a phone number look-up site? You obviously know who called you. Do you often look up known numbers?

If a home inspector told Eric at ADT to call ns, and you are calling that a referral, that sounds off.  It is not cool for anyone to sic Eric at ADT on ns unless ns has been told about ADT and given the option to have their number passed to an ADT sales rep.

We know ns did not get a heads-up, since the call came out of the blue.  So the home inspector or someone else affiliated acted in a way that compromised ns's right to privacy.  Knowing ADT tends to be pushy, I am guessing ns can expect more calls, and it is possible ADT will share ns's number with other similar outfits such as water filters, duct inspectors, solar scammers... etc.

If the home inspector or whoever had told ns that they recommended Eric at ADT, and left it up to ns to call or not, that is a proper referral; an ethical referral since ns makes the decision to call old Eric or not.  If ns decides not to call, ns's privacy is intact.

Referrals are an important part of growing a business, but there are rules that apply.  ns has a right to privacy and does not want their phone number tossed around by ADT and related Home &Hearth businesses.  BTW, Eric from ADT could have written a note to ns, and left it for ns to call or not, so IMHO, Eric acted unthinkingly and without consideration for ns's privacy.  But from my experience of ADT, that is par for them.

As for "no worries", there are posters here who take their privacy seriously.  It is a worry and a legit concern.  A home inspector or anyone else does not have the right to decide about passing out phone numbers.

Oh, before I forget, I think you are Shill.
I don't believe you were here to check this number, I think you are here doing some damage control.

Well that may be, but that "referral" and the resulting phone call violate the law.  So, yes, there is something to worry about.
