- MikeMy landlord called me and said this Ed Nine guy called them and said a relative of mine reported a boat stolen and they think I am hiding it in my garage. None of my relatives have a friggin' boat. That is shady from the start. Then this David Brown (conveniently generic name) left me a voicemail saying he is trying to reach a relative of mine. I called back with *67 and this David character would not give me any info.
Also their callback number on voicemail was 866-726-2977- Caller: Rockmore & Rockmore
- BobbyThis David Brown claims he's with an insurance company and is nothing more than a bill collector who lies to get information. Just ask him not to call your number and hang up.
- Call type: Debt collector
- WuzLeft a voice mail message to call back about an insurance claim on one of my adult children. One that no longer lives with us or even has contact with us. Explicitly said this is not a collection call. Looks like he lied. Left the same phone number on his voice mail as with others 8667262977. Said he was with Rockmore in Dallas, TX. I did not return the call. Others in my family have received messages like this from him.
- Caller: Rockmore
- Call type: Debt collector
- Ben| 1 replyThese people called relentlessly attempting to hunt down my ex that owed approximately $2000 on a car loan that had been turned over to their company. Told them I wasn’t in contact with nor did I know my ex’s whereabouts so they continued to call my children’s cell phones, my mother’s cell and landline, close and distant relatives, and friends. Know that they will continue to call for months. Their final voicemail stated they would pay me a finder’s fee if I would reveal my ex’s whereabouts.

- BigA replies to BenI doubt that your ex owes anything since the tactics they are using are completely illegal. Plus if it was an auto loan they would have simply repossessed the car. No debt collectors involved in that. Edit: Looks like the business name is actually Roquemore & Roquemore, Inc., a scummy outfit out of Texas. They seem to have a habit of breaking the law.
One of the tricks they use is to call your family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them so that they can scare that person into paying extortion money. They will usually also state information that would be illegal for a real debt collector to state to department and tell them that you are a deadbeat who does not pay their bills. They often call people that have never even been a third party such as that you are being sued, that you owe money to someone, etc. They threaten that if you do not call them back, they will contact your HR associated with you because they get erroneous information off the internet.
