214-351-2275 - ScottGot a call too - this guy said his name was Richard Price with Dallas County Sheriff's office - (FOP?) something like that. Anyway tried to call back, but got no answer, sounds fishy to me - especially since they called an Irving location we "use to" have. We haven't occupied that space for months, the call routed to me in a different city. Be careful!!
- Harry replies to DeeIts a marketing call for donations
- gunner11-17-09 call came in on my cell from # 214-276-0901 and left message to
please call Richard Price 214-638-0630 at Dallas County Sheriff. No reason given for the call. Sounds suspicious.- Caller: no known
- WilsonA guy named Paul Turpin called from this number.
214-638-0630
Didn't say why he called - just left a message.
If you can't tell a person why you are calling it has to be a scam all the way.... - SharonMy comment is exactly the same as the one from Wilson, above, on 2/23/10. I don't return calls when I don't know the caller and (s)he does not give a reason for their call.
- Chef replies to Dee| 1 replyKasen is a member of the Dallas County Sheriffs Association. I have been donating for three years now. He's legitimate.
- Norman Landa| 1 replyKeep getting phone calls from Jack Nichols from (214) 638-0630 and 214-276-0434. He will not identify the organization he represents, however, it is the Dallas Sheriff's Fraternal Order of Police because this office has donated to it a previouly. He is rude, demanding and relentless. Would not support any organization if this is the individual that represents it.

- MI received a phone call and fax. Phone number on the fax is 214-638-0630. When the guy called he said he had talked to one of my employees about a donation to Zakat Shriners and that my employee had ok 100.00 donations. I have trained my employees that these type of calls have to go thru me. In speaking with this guy I informed him I donate once a year to the Shriners thru a good customer of ours who only comes by once a year. This guy informed me he wasn't the Hella Shriners. In doing my reasearch this looks like some kind of Islam bull S***. I don't donate to this type of crap. So when I told him no he hung up on me. Hope he doesn't call me again.
I see that some of you people are donating to the Fraternal Order of Police. 1st the Police don't call for donations and the companies that are doing these calls only give the charity pennies on the dollar for the charity. So if you want to donate, donate directly to the charity and not the people doing the calling.- Caller: Zakat Shriners

- KeithI received a solication call from a white male, 50-60 yrs. old who identified himself as Kerry Kirkpatrick with the Dallas Sheriff's F.O.P. (Lodge #85). He left a cell phone number of (214) 664-6401.
He faxed an official looking document, but I have been unable to independently validate the authenticity of any contact information.
It's a straight up solicitation from a marketing company that is prey's on the kindness of others. Obama please save us! lol.- Caller: Dallas Sheriff's Fraternal Order of Police

- PhilThe ruse gets even better, we had a volunteer show up at our office today stating he was here to collect money pledged by (the Boss, they used the correct name) for the Dallas Sheriffs Fraternal Order of Police. We advised them that we have no record of the authorization to issue such a donation on (the Boss)'s behalf and that we would have to wait until we receive such authorization. The gentlemen then left and within 5 minutes Jim Cason calls from 214-638-0630 and advises me that he had talked with (the Boss) on Monday and that he told them he would be in meeting off and on during the week and that if he wasn't available he was to call me (using my name) and that I could issue the check. I advised him I do not have check signing authority so he would have to wait till I speak with (the Boss).

- Jerri| 1 replyJust received one from 214-276-0434 asked for my husband/boss, told not here, then he hung up refusing to leave a message or name. Then I hit recall on the phone, called him back a few minutes later and asked who he was. He said he was Kerry Kirkpatrick for the Dallas Fraternal Order Sheriff's whatever. I told him we were a small business, did not do donations and would like to be removed from his list and furthermore, he was calling a residence as well. He apologized very nicely and said he would remove us from the list. Now, we shall see.....

- Jerri replies to JerriIt's me again. Couple hours after I post that, same guy calls, gives a totally different name asks again, but THIS TIME, he announces his name, where he is calling from and what it was about. I informed him that he had just called me hours ago and I had asked him to remove my home/business from his list. He apologized again and said he wouldn't bother me anymore.
- Adriani received a call froom 214-276-0434 caller id SW PUBLIC so decided to google it... how do this peeps get our phone numbers?
either way i didnt answer.. and why do they even want donations for?
if you guys are going to donate donate to RED CROSS or ST JUDE
or SPCA or anyother legitimate organization. Will answer next time and tell them to remove me from their list - AdamGot a call at my office. The call was transferred to me because I'm on the committee that approves charitable donations.
I was hit up for a donation to a children's toy drive for Christmas. He said I might remember seeing the news story about them on channel 11 last night. When I told them that I couldn't authorize a donation without approval from the committee, he immediately hit me up for a personal donation. I said I might be willing to donate, and he immediately asked for my credit card number. I said I wasn't comfortable giving him that, and he said he could come by and pick up a check. I told him I would be more comfortable dropping off a donation at his location, and he said that wouldn't work because of something about undercover officers (???).
This sounded fishy to me so I ended the call and tried to research his organization online. I didn't find much, nothing about a toy drive except for some news stories on Lupe Valdez' "Sheriff's Elves" drive from a couple years ago that was mixed up with felons. I found the channel 11 news story he referred me to and it's a Ft. Worth program called Cowboy Santas that accepts donations of all kinds at several locations. Obviously this guy was trying to piggyback on another group's publicity to solicit donations for his own group.
Anyway, maybe the really was with Dallas Sheriff FOP and maybe it is a legit charity and maybe not, but what's clear is that they go about soliciting donations in an unethical way, and do not inspire confidence. I would not recommend donating to them.- Caller: SW Public

- AlanSame story here. They use the name "Dallas Sheriffs" and not the official, legal name of "Dallas County Sheriff's Department". "Dallas Sheriffs" could be a baseball team for all we know. "Fraternal Order of Police" is a legitimate organization and there is an already-identified scam going on using this name to solicit funds that go straight into the pocket of the solicitor.
I don't generally return calls from my office phone but the name "Dallas Sheriffs" is official-sounding enough to make most people worry about a loved one or something...enough to return the call. The guy's name was Jim Cason...I'd love to get his home phone #. You would think common decency would prevail on stuff like this but I guess not.
