Got a call from Angela.... from Assets Financial again but different number saying there was a depository check fraud filed against me with a file number that they use to try and scare you into thinking its legit. I've contacted my local state attorney general and they advised me to ignore the calls because it's a scam!

Angela called me this morning and said it was regarding a payday advance I received in 2012.  LOL, I love leading these people on and making up stories to twist their feeble brains.  I tried to get them to send me information via email or mail and she refused (obviously because then they would be committing wire fraud and adding another criminal charge to their plate.)  Last week I received a 2 calls from someone about this same account so these criminals have a pretty large operation because the first calls were from 708 area codes (Illinois) and today it was from a 215 area code (Philadelphia.)  In summary, it is fraud and don't let them catch you off guard with the information they have on you (bank account numbers, social security etc) as all they have are the last 4 digits.  Nonetheless, I recommend you check you bank account every day just in case.

Received a call from Angela today stating I received a deposit into an account that I never owned. She is demanding a letter from my bank saying I never owned this account. If I don't send the letter she's going to turn my account over to the sheriff's office for prosecution.  Go right ahead Angela!

Likely story! First of all, NO debt should be paid until a notice of validation has been received BY MAIL (not e-mail or fax.) & the debt and collector have been verified as legitimate. Nothing in writing via the USPS? PAY THEM NOTHING!
Secondly, if you received a "paid off" letter then you can supply us with the return address on it & any information about this outfit contained in it. I think it's safe to say that you won't be posting a verifiable thing. We all know why!
