- MACI received a call from 215-525-6561. The person on the line told me starting next month I could save money on my AT&T bill, because her company Birch or Burch was a consolidator. She wanted to know how many business lines we had. I told her if she had done her homework she would have known that AT&T was not my phone vendor. Before hanging up she said to have a nice day. This was definitely an unsolicited marketing call, despite the fact our telephone #s are listed on the "Do Not Call Registry". Also, this is not the first time Birch or Burch has tried to contact us, but it's the first time some person was on the line with us.
- Caller: Birch or Burch
- Call type: Telemarketer

- GreyI got the same thing... a hangup when I answered. I called back just to see who it was and got a recorded message stating that they would not stop calling me until I bought their product. I have no idea what this product is but the recorded message was very blunt that they were going to call us until we bought their product.
- MikeNo one on the line. Very annoying, this number has called several times with the same results. This has to stop. Can't anyone do something about this??????
- T AI am getting the same calls. No one on the line when I answer. I'm on do not call list also.

- Al KSame here, the calls from 215-525-6561 have been coming twice a day for the past two weeks. Nobody on the line. I've had two other calls saying I would save money on my phone bill next month since they took over ATT.
- LFC| 2 repliesI also just received one of these calls. Our office received the same call on Monday, as well. With each call, no one says anything and hangs up. I called the number back and got a strange recording stating that no one was available because "right now I'm closing a deal". The area code is for Philadelphia.
- C Young replies to LFC| 1 replyI've received calls from NCC (Birch Telecom) in the past two days, too. In fact, I've received more than just a couple. In my case, the calling number is always a 215-525-xxxx number.
I have a home business (so have both a residential phone and home phone coming into my house). I received the previously-reported phone calls where no one was there when I answered.
The reason that you are getting this "no answer" call is that Birch values its sales reps time so much that they don't mind being a big annoyance to the community that they hope to serve. Because they don't want their sales reps sitting idly by waiting for your phone to ring, they use "predictive dialing", where their computer systems automatically dial your number with the HOPE that when you answer, they'll have someone in their call center who is available to speak to you. If not... well, too bad. You'll just have to listen to silence for a while. Don't worry. They'll call back again. And perhaps, again and again.
If you are so "lucky" as to hear a live, human voice when you answer, they'll make it sound like AT&T *wants* you to move to Birch. Don't be fooled. They don't.
Moving to Birch will save you some money, perhaps, but it will make you one step removed from AT&T, so if you're having phone problems, I don't know that you'll be able to call AT&T directly. When you buy from Birch, AT&T still handles the "transit" (the wire), but they no longer bill for the service that runs across the wire. And I honestly don't know if AT&T considers YOU or BIRCH to be their TRANSIT customer at that point.
Today, when I asked the sales rep to please add me to their “do not call” list, she said, almost mockingly, that she’d do that, but there was just no way to know how long it might take for them to accomplish getting that done. It might happen, or it might not. I asked to speak to a supervisor. I don’t know if I spoke to a supervisor, or just the rep at the next desk. He informed me that “this is just one of 500 call center offices that Birch has around the country”, and that each of them have their own list. He said I might be on 350 of those lists. So basically, “too bad”, if I want to be removed. They just have no mechanism to get it done, since all of those OTHER offices could be calling. Hmmm…
So I asked them this: If I sign up with you today, will I receive more calls from those other 500 offices? “No,” he said, “they woudn’t do that because that would be a waste of their time”. So clearly the offices are LINKED, they just aren’t sharing the ‘do not call’ information. Why can they communicate to stay "stop calling because we made a sale", but they can't communicate to stay "stop calling because the person SAID to"? It's because they don't WANT to.
I, too, have now contacted the state about this call. Unfortunately, the Missouri No Call law excludes phone companies (due to their lobbying efforts, no doubt). But I still believe that if they are specifically told NOT to call, they must stop calling.
I further think we should work together to get predictive dialing made illegal. It's worse than spam, honestly. - watahelaI keep getting phone calls from NCC 215 525 6561 on land line and fax line. I want to report them as I am on the no call list and they refuse to stop calling.

- tlee replies to travelincatAm also on the do not call list. Will also report them to Mr. Nixon's office. Hope he isn't to busy campaigning for Governor that he can't take time to hassle these guys the way they hassle me. I've gotten 3 calls today from them, and no one ever answers on their end.
- Speak-free215-525-6561 calls my office just about every day, I have asked them to stop through an email since I searched on line and found it was Burch but they still call, there is no one on the line when you answer it they just hang up on you! Caller ID shows NCC 215-525-6561. I am on the no call list but it has not stopped these people!

- E replies to C YoungYou are correct that if you use Birch, or any CLEC, you are no longer AT&T's customer. At that point, Birch is AT&T's customer. The down side is as you stated, you cannot call AT&T directly to resolve your issue. The up side, for most people, is that CLECs have people that understand how the technology works. They have access to test the circuits and determine what the problem is rather than blindly trust AT&T.
The offices are linked in that the offices of the company that they hire to do the telemarketing are linked, but they are not linked to Birch's system. Birch doesn't have 500 employees. How can they have 500 offices?
Birch is probably unaware that this is happening.
As for everyone that says "I'm on the do not call list". I too am on that list, but unfortunately the list does not apply to phone companies. This is something that should be voiced to the state legislature.
I agree that predictive dialing should be illegal. It is not only a pain in the [***] for us, it takes jobs that are needed in this country. - BUSY BUSINESSWe have received numerous calls from this phone number every day more than once where no one is there they just hang up as soon as you finish the greeting. Finally today someone spoke and when I asked them to remove us because of the hang up calls, they just hung up.
