Another Call from a MALE person with accent from India (even though CID said Maria Murracas)... claiming to be from Microsoft (Really!) regarding my computer.  When I asked whether I should be "contacting" the FBI regarding my computer... HE HUNG UP.  Same script, just a different phone number.  Doesn't seem to matter that I'm on the DO-NOT-CALL List.  These guys are shameless!

Call from a female with heavy accent from India, also claiming to be from Microsoft wanting to talk about my computer.  I said, "Good, your number showed up on my caller id."  She said "LOL" and hung up.

I just received a call from the same number and the CID also said Maria Murracas.  It was a woman caller saying something was wrong with my computer....I hung up and called the number back.  A woman answered and said she keeps getting calls from people but doesn't know what it is about???????   This is the 2nd call I have received today with calls like this one.....getting really upset because we are on the DO NOT CALL LIST TOO......

Reading the other comments, I would say this is the same scam where someone with an Indian (from India) accent tells the person there is something wrong with their computer.  This time I didn't answer the call because I don't answer calls from people I don't know, look up this info and blocked this number.  In the past, when I did answer the phone, I just said I don't own a computer and they must have the wrong party.  If they call you and you answer, just tell them you don't have a computer (if Microsoft wanted to contact every computer owner they would not make a phone call to each of the computer owners, what is that, like a million people?) and hang up.  Then block.  If you don't answer, good for you.  Then block.

I have received the 3d call from this number, today. Lady says she is calling from Microsoft, and that my computer is sending out errors. I ask, " so, you are going to fix it, and charge me a fee?" She hung up.

I also just received a phone call from them. They call my house at least one a week. I told him I have Apple computers, which is only my MacBook. He said my desk top apple was sending warning signals. I then said to him you're lying I don't have an apple desk top computer. He then just said really really really in a mad Indian accent. I told him call again and there will be a state trooper at his door step. And he hung up.

It might help you and Frustrated to know what the DNC is REALLY capable of and what it cannot do: This is from the FTC web site regarding the Do Not Call Registry:

"My number is on the Registry, so why am I still getting illegal calls?
Since 2009, the FTC has seen a significant increase in the number of illegal sales calls – particularly robocalls. The reason is technology. Internet powered phone systems make it cheap and easy for scammers to make illegal calls from anywhere in the world, and to display fake caller ID information, which helps them hide from law enforcement.

What is the FTC doing to stop these calls?
To date, the FTC has sued hundreds of companies and individuals who were responsible for placing unwanted calls, and has obtained over a billion dollars in judgments against violators.

In addition, the FTC is leading several initiatives to develop a technology-based solution.  The FTC has sponsored a series of robocall contests challenging the tech savvy public to design tools that block robocalls and help investigators track down and stop robocallers. The FTC also is encouraging industry efforts to combat caller ID spoofing.

What can I do to stop unwanted calls?
Make sure your number is on the Do Not Call Registry.
Hang up on illegal sales calls. If your number is on the Registry, and you get a sales call, or you get an illegal robocall, don’t interact in any way. Don’t press buttons to be taken off the call list or to talk to a live person. Doing so will probably lead to more unwanted calls.  Instead, hang up and file a complaint with the FTC."

In addition to that information from the FTC web site, I would add that, if you are on the DNC list and you do get telemarketing calls, you can know FOR SURE that the caller is a scammer, an illegal, a crook, a criminal, most likely calling from overseas.

Got a call from "Maria Murracas" this morning.  They didn't leave a message.  Good to know this is nothing more than a gigantic Microsoft scam.  What, they think that if the caller ID reads a pretty woman's name I'm more likely to respond to it and give in?  How sick are these people?
