Threatened to cancel my social security number if I did not return their call.

Recorded message - told me my social security number was being suspended if I didn't call them back.  Bunch of crooks!

Caller ID says "unknown name".  Message claimed my social security number is being canceled because of suspicious and criminal activity with my number and may be identity theft.  Wanted me to call back.. Some nerve. Trying to scam me AND make me pay for the call.

They were going to cancel my social security number. Big time scam. You have your number until you pass.

Social security scam

Received a voice mail which is highly suspicious, threatening to "cancel" my Social Security number. "...suspicious and criminal activities connected with your Social Security number.  We suspect it is an identify theft situation. With orders from [garbled] and the "judiciary department," we are cancelling your Social Security number.  For further informaton and to awoid [said awoid, not avoid] any disciplinary action, kindly call us back as soon as you receive this message.  Our direct number will be 215-586-7803, I repeat, 215-586-7803. Thank you.  Good day." First, I highly doubt that Social Security numbers can be "cancelled" and what exactly is the "judiciary department? Any official government contact would NOT come via a voicemail like this, regardless, but would come in writing.  This is definitely a phishing scam.

They left me a message similar to the ones above. It was hard to hear and threatening. Called back and they answered Dept. Of Social Security, they asked for my name and when I said I needed more information before I gave out any of mine they hung up. Big time scam.

scam call

caller claimed to be my daughter calling from another state, that was false because my daughter was in school at the time of the call, they called my parents and had them worried stating my daughter had gotten into a bad car accident
