Caller was a recording, stating they were from the US Treasury.  If I ignored the call and hung up I would be prosecuted.  Press 1 to talk to a lawyer, press 2 to go infront f a Federal Judge.

I got a voice mail at about noon Pacific time on 9/28/2016 from Caller ID: Backbone Commun. It said: "Hi, this message is intended to contact you. My name is Steve [Moss, Martin (not completely audible)?] regarding an enforcement action executed by the US Treasury intending your seated [immediate?] attention. Ignoring this will be an intentional second attempt to avoid initial appearance before a magistrate judge or a grand jury for a federal criminal offense. My number is 216 539 0097. I repeat 216 539 0097. I advise you to cooperate with us and I want to help you. Thank you." I called back from a blocked number a few times and got busy signals. Then I finally called from an unblocked number and got a message that it was an non-working number. However, within a minute, I got another call, said hello, and got only dead air. This is clearly a scam to frighten and manipulate people into paying money to criminals to clear an alleged debt or some similar ruse.

Said he was Steve MArtin and was with government  Call back if not it is a federal offense

The post immediately above is from me. I received a very similar message at my office last week; it was the same threat that I had to appear before a magistrate judge or a grand jury for a federal criminal offense. So, whoever is doing this appears to be quite aggressive in targeting particular individuals

Dumb SOB calls pretending to be with the government trying to scam money. I wish I could subject his sorry hide to the full extent of my PO'd 6'5" 260 pound frame. Useless scum.

"Hi, this message is intended to contact you."  Oh really, that's why you called.  Male w/a heavy Russian accent, sounded like Boris from the old cartoon show, Rocky & Bullwinkle, left a scam-o-gram mess on my voice mail.  Heads up, scam perpetrator, do you really think the US Treasury is going to take the time to contact citizens via cell phones?  Oy.  Ignore, ignore, ignore and report it.  Maybe the local tv news would be interested in reporting the scam.

I have received this call three times. All three within two weeks. I ignore all such scams.
Like most of you, I know the IRS/Treasury Dept. will send a letter on their letterhead "asking" you to contact them. Then they give a legitimate, Federal Govt. number. It will nearly always be a number of the nearest office to you.

"Steve Martin" -- heavy non-English speaker accent -- "enforcement action" blah, blah ... I'm losing count.  Grrr....

Called about 9 a.m. - started leaving a recorded message before my answering machine finished.......said some b.s. about Fed fees or .............  they are now blocked

Received 2 calls today. Same message/threat from different name & number: Kevin Mason. -  509-570-5115. "Pete Martin" threatened yesterday with exact message.

Same message from a Steve Martin dealing with the US Treasury.  Also, ID was Backbone Commun
