This number is used by the "Fund-Raising Center", a professional group that collects money for charities, for a fee.
I just checked their website.  They insist they NEVER call anyone to solicit donations, and they have posted a warning that any calls we receive are from thieves using their name and phone number.  The calls I've experienced are from the same guy and are extremely unprofessional.  Sounds like he smokes too much, and he always asks for someone he knows doesn't live at my address. When I tell him "James" (or whoever) doesn't live here, he immediately hits on me for money.  I've called the number he uses and have reached a recording that says they are the Fund-Raising Center.  I don't believe someone is fraudulently representing them. This group should be shut down.

He called and asked for someone that use to have my number and. I told him that this was no longer that persons number. He proceed to tell me what he was calling for and I to told him no thank you. He changed the amount to donate. I hung up the phone and called right back and it said it was a fundraising drive center. I called the police and they weren’t even helpful.

This number called me...from the Officers Education Center wanting funds to help people in need receive training to become members of the law enforcement community.  I interrupted him and said no such place exists.  What this is, is a programmed response recording by a computer that has stored responses to answer your responses. You can trip them up by asking like I did,,,How many states are there in the United States...the spiel by the voice stops,,,and instead of answering, then continues on trying for a donation.  I said,,you are a preprogrammed robot, arent you,,the voice said,,no,you are actually talking to a live recording...so I asked again a different easy question,,How many Great Lakes are there?  That tripped up the pre programming again,,,and went forward askinbg me to give less if I couldnt give what they suggested.   I told them if they cant answer my questions,,,they they are scamming,,,and not a real place or real live person.  The line went dead.
