It used to be that this site would go directly to the comments when hitting enter after typing the phone number. Now its a Google search first. You must hit enter an extra time to get the comments. Why is that? Seems like the scam alert site wants to double their hits which is a scam in itself!. True?

Calling to raise money for a "Trooper Drive" for the OH State Troopers for boosters to help children of officers killed in the line of duty. A good cause yet, but he was extremely pushy. Kept talking loudly over me as I was trying to explain I had no money to give. Was very pushy and wouldn't take no for an answer. I don't like being made to feel guilty. I can't even buy food for my house right now. Do yourself a favor and don't answer.

They've called here twice in the last 2 days and never leave a message.  Glad to see the post above warning me not to answer.  Because this is a local number where I live I may have been tempted to answer.  Usually the scams come from weird out of state area codes.  Thanks, A, for the info!

216 539 3962 called twice in 2 days.  No message.  It is a VOIP number. Anybody here connected to the NSA or has friends at the phone company or knows a not so friendly "persuader"?  This crap has to cease!

Here is a thought;  Get a small boat horn, the type that has a pressure can powering it.  If the jerk answers, give him a blast..

I can tell you if it was for troopers it's not a non-profit group.  None of them are.  They called here at 8:00p.

Just stop calling.  Find a legitimate job.

Called at dinner time.  They left no message.  The caller ID was blank.  Legitimate callers identify themselves and they leave messages.  This walks, quacks and swims like a scam.  Beware!

They've called three more times since I last posted on Aug. 19th.  It is Saturday, approx. 5:10 pm.  Evenings, weekends......they don't care.  No respect for people's lives.  I'd at least respect them a teeny bit if they'd leave a message.  They are peskier than the horse flies in my backyard.  Too bad I can't swat them!  My policy is to not answer the phone, but if this keeps up I might have to.  I can at least tell them I don't do business with entities that don't leave messages.  They've had ample opportunity to do at least that much.

It's Saturday evening at 5:50pm and they just called my house too. Did not leave a message. I will be sure to answer next time and blast them with the air horn. I just got one and I'm ready to use it. These people obviously need to feel some pain. Then they might leave people alone.

Since they have trouble hearing and don't understand the word "No" maybe they should go see the hearing doctor. I might just have to help the process along...  :)

Got call @ 2:53pm Tues. 8/27/13 from "Cleveland, Oh" 216-539-3952.  Didn't ans. ph. cause didn't recognize # & don't ans. any calls not familiar with. So thankful I choose to handle calls this way. Even tho call was legit (I guess) according to this post, I DO NOT donate thru incoming ph. calls! Am on fixed (too low) income that doesn't meet our own needs either. Get calls from FOP out of Columbus, Oh & they are VERY pushy also!

there are some organizations that say they are helping the troopers, but the bulk of the money goes to the top tier exec's, just like a lot of other scam charities.

Posts are absolutely correct.  They "claim" to raise money for a charitable cause, but almost all of it goes to pay themselves.  To keep it "legit" they give a teensy portion to the cause they claim to represent.  NEVER give to them.

This is so true.  Everyone needs to know this.

There are far better causes out there, if this is a real cause.

If the trooper was killed in the line of duty, the State/Fed is taking care of the family just fine.

I used to do "Telemarketing/Fundraising" for a local "FOP" fundraising co. that was owned by a Indiana person. This person was an alchololic, met a guy at a AA meeting, let the new guy run the Ohio FOP phoneroom. Found out the new guy was a convicted murderer fresh out of prison. new guy would cruise "TEENANON" meetings to "recruit" for the phoneroom, knowing that if the kids didn't meet his demands/quota new guy would call the parents and tell that the kids had fallen back into their "old ways". New guy would also smoke pot on the property and "hire" some of his old prison buddies to work the phones. New guy would put transient ex-con buddies in local hotels under assumed names and pay in cash. On Fri., when the Detectives showed to sign checks, new guy demanded all to "stick to the script", yet, any other time he would scream obscenities while you are trying to "CONvince" people that YOU are a "officer" and the money is going to help kids etc.
