I recognize the voice from the other day when he called.

Caller kept interupting me when I said that I had made a donation (stupid me) 2 months prior.  He said it could not have been them since they only solicit once per year.  I then asked where my check went (very small, trust me) and he sarcasticallly said, "How am I supposed to know!?" I ended the call.  I wish I had checked Lisa Madigan's website regarding such organizations before donating.  Don't respond.  Best to ignore the call when popping up on the caller ID.

same [***], different day. just because they have a name with "police" in it doesn't give them the right to bother people, yet they think it does. just another cold calling scam for money, what else?

Called 5:54pm 8/5/08 - Claimed to be the Police Protection Fund for fallen officers in the Waukegan, IL area--why would a downstate number be calling for Waukegan (far northern IL)? Politely hung up when I said "We don't donate to anything over the phone."

They did not say a word. Wait till the rifle comes. police protection fund. Anger Is a good quality. Fear is not!!

We previously agreed to donate some money to this "charity" a while ago but when we received the literature in the mail and researched it on the Internet, we didn't mail in a donation. They called again today, and when I tried to pin the solicitor down on specifics (does the money go Illinois officers? what percent?), he was evasive. I told him I wasn't comfortable donating, and the man was very kind, thanked me for my time, and hung up.

I saw POL PROTCT FUND light up on the caller id at 6:48 p.m. tonight, January 22, 2009 and ignored it.  These pains in the [***] have called before and I have reported it to donotcall.gov, but I get the idea that that is not helping. I have never spoken to anybody on the other end of the line when I see that number.

got a call, picked it up -- went like this
Me: HEllo
Them: nothing
Me: Hello
Them: James?
Me: Yes
Them: Nothing
Me: Hello
They hung up.

Not Polish but Police

Called at 1:16 p.m. left no message. Note name change???

These people do not stop calling.  Even if you are on the do not call list.
Is there anyway you can sue them for harassment in a class action?

Called and I answered "Hello" in an annoyed manner, expecting a telemarketer.  The man said, "Dam- fool!" and slammed his phone down.  It was unnerving to read these other replies.

Frequently calls, leaves no message and since its a scam, I'll never pick up. The Do Not Call list does no good when they don't obey the law anyway.

Calling about police deaths to donate money for their families

Called twice with hang-ups both times, then called a third time, but I didn't answer--they didn't leave a message.  Same people called me a couple of years ago asking for a donation.  When I told them that we prefer to donate to charities of our choosing and that our budget was a little tight at that time (which it was and still is), the guy on the other end yelled at me saying, "What, you can't even give $10?!!!"  Very rude man, so I hung up.  If they are so rude to everyone, and they are written up to be a scam by news organizations, then why haven't they been investigated and disbanded by now?

They called my office number, since I am in a customer based job, I have to answer every call, I answered "Good Afternoon This is Christina", the man on the other end said "I'm sorry Christina, I have the wrong number".

When ever I get a strange call, I always look up the number, glad I did and will be sure to let it go to voicemail from now on.

called didnt leave a message  but got a call form a private number and i answerd no one said anything  who is this and what do they want to they always call if you get a ticket for the first time ?

It's the Polish Police Protection Fund. The charity helps Polish policemen who have been been injured while changing light bulbs at the station house.

6:09pm  Caller hollers in a loud and obnoxious voice... 'Is this the <states my last name> residence?  I ask: 'Who's Calling?'  Again in a loud and obnoxious voice... 'Is this the <states my last name> residence?  In a louder voice, I mimmic him and holler...  whoooooooose calling?  With an echoey background and talking to someone in the same room, the caller hangs up the phone.  No immediate callback and hope it stays that way..   Loaded the number in my phone Caller ID as Police Fund and will not answer next time
