- C in IL replies to Kay in PAOh God, I had the SAME experience just now - a guy with a very heavy Asian accent (but trying to disguise it) was mumbling about smoke detectors in my home. At first I couldn't understand him, but then it sounded very fishy. When I said I was not interested in answering his questions, he started abusing me in VILE terms (not repeatable here). I simply hung up.
- GreyThe guy cussed me out when i pretended to not be able to hear him ahahaahahah
Hes selling fire alarms. A real looser with a big mouth.- Caller: 240-353-0659
- SearrssMan in a loud call center finally started talking after I said "Hello" three times. Definitely had an accent, insisted he wasn't making a sales call, and started asking me about smoke alarms in my house. I told him I was at work and that he should call back later, and he promptly hung up.
- Call type: Survey
- JeffCaller ID said Kenneth Burruss. Guy with a thick accent (perhaps Indian) asked me some questions about fire safety. Sounded like a call center with lots of noise in background. I wasn't busy and I usually like to hear what kind of scheme they're cooking up, so I agreed to listen. It was only about 1 minute long and then he said something that I couldn't understand and he immediately hung up. I thought he said I would be entered into some drawing or something.
Sure enough about 2 days later I got a call from an American sounding lady who told me I won a free alarm system for completing the survey. Wow, imagine my luck. :) She didn't have anymore details but just confirmed I was the home owner and that a tech would call me again to go over any question I might have.
About 10 minutes later an American sounding guy called and tried to schedule an installation. I asked him a bunch of questions and found out they are selling 2Gig wireless systems. Sure enough the system is free but the monthly monitoring charge is about $43, there's a 3 year contract, early termination fee, etc.
My guess is they are not really working for 2Gig but they are subcontractors getting paid to schedule installs. It seems legit but in my opinion there are better/cheaper alternatives and their whole fake survey, fake contest, and multiple calls is a big turn off. I hate when people do business like that.- Caller: 2Gig

- sandraI received the same call from Kenneth Burruss on 9/1/12. Sounded like he had an Indian accent. He started by telling me it wasn't a sales call. He asked me if we had a fire alarm, if we checked it semi-annually and if we had fire extinguishers. He then asked if I owned the home and for my name. When I wouldn't give him any information on my name...he started to talk faster and push. I hung up. He immediately kept calling back (caller id showed 5 or 6 times without letting it go into vm). I finally picked up and told him that I did not wasn't interested in talking further, that I did not want any more calls and that I was going to call the police if he called again. He then said he was 'going to kill me'. Incredulously, I asked he to repeat what he just said and he repeated it in a very controlled way. I let the local police know. They called the number and got someone who said that their number was being used to make calls and that the calls might be coming in from outside of the US and they were looking into it.. That is as much as I know.

- K.M.I just got the call from Kenneth Burruss 240-353-0659. I didn't answer it and they didn't leave a message. Now that I know it's a telemarketer, I won't bother answering unless they keep it up incessantly.
