I just tried to call it back to ask for badge #, etc. It isn't a working number. It just hangs up on me. That's probably because the idiot (who should be deported) doesn't have my cell number in his computer list. Geeze, and I was going to thank him for helping me with the magistrate and everything!!! haaaaaa !!!!

Just got the same call from "Steve Modern." He said, "Hi this message is invented to contact you. My name is Steve Modern, and I'm calling regarding an enforcement actions executed by U.S. Treasury, intending your [?]. Ignoring this will be an intentional 2nd attempt to avoid initial appearance before a magistrate judge or a grand jury for a federal criminal offense. My number is 2407451340. I'd like you to cooperate with us to help us to help you."
(I received this same message as above)  On my voice mail from 4:45 pm today  January 13, 2016

Pretty much the same as all of the above comments. Received calls on 1/14 and 1/15 from this number indicating Damascus, MD and a man with a strong foreign accent who did not identify himself advised that federal criminal charges were about to be filed against me. And, if I did not contact him immediately, I could be subject to arrest and face substantial financial penalties.

Received 2 messages from Steve Modern about my criminal federal offense . The # he left to call back did not match the number on the phone ID. When I called the number a woman (also foreigner) explained it was about my 2012 taxes being filed incorrectly but she did not have any info on me and the background noise sounded like a call center. She eventually got disgusted with me asking her to repeat what she said due to her accent and she hung up on me.  :)  It was still disturbing.

Total scam.  Originates in either India or Pakistan.   Block and ignore.   DO NOT RETURN THE CALL!

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

Received a voicemail with a recorded message similar to the above stating that a failure to appear, and something about the US Treasury.  It was a male with a foreign accent speaking non-standard english.  they specified that if I ignore this second attempt, it will be really bad.

I got 3 calls in 2 days and knew on 4th call what was coming.  I called the db back and told him I was standing outside his office with an M16 and please come to to the window.  They hung up.....

Got the same call, and said we have received something that needs immediate action that we enforcement action that if ignored it will be a federal criminal offense.  And of course he can help.

Same, called them back and said to quit calling and some choice words.  He got mad and cussed me out and said they will be coming for me and my family, bring it, I'll be waiting.

Said they were IRS, called my daughter with threats.  I called back and told them they weren't IRS so he proceeded to say if my daughter would do obscene expletives I will not repeat they would forgive the debt
